I love Whoopi Goldberg in this film. She's brilliant. The choir makes your own heart sing out loud with the music they sing at the convent. I recommend both these films to everyone, especially if a fan of Whoopi. The second one is just as good.

First things first - watch it at all costs if only for a young Kirsten Dunst. I can't imagine a better Amy and whenever I go back to the book I always imagine her in the part. Full of life, adorable and hilarious. There's a bit I just love, where Jo says "Stop sulking, Amy, you look like a pigeon", and Amy leans back, rolls her eyes and gives a sulky couple of 'coo's. Sadly, she gets cut two thirds of the way through for a 'grown-up' Amy, who is all right but nothing to write home about.
I wanted to like it, but the film as a whole is pretty flawed. The pace is monotonous and some of the best scenes of the book are cut and replaced with dull dialogue. Because the film is of both Little Women books, a lot of character development ... Read More:

This is my favourite film, and has been for years. I've seen it at least 200 times and can repeat all the lines and the songs throughout the film. I know, really sad! I can't help it though. It's such a feel good funny film with a great soundtrack. If you haven't seen it, you're missing out!

"White Christmas" has long been a favourite of mine, and is THE Christmas film above all other seasonal offerings. It is warm, funny, touching and tuneful.
Everyone knows the title song, but Irving Berlin composed some other great numbers such as "Sisters" and "Count Your Blessings" for the movie, which runs to almost two hours.
It's a great production with a cast which fits the bill perfectly.
This DVD also features an interview with the fabulous Rosemary Clooney, who also provides a film commentary if you so choose to listen. The Theatrical trailer is also one of the extras.
Humour, emotion, songs, suspense, what more could you want in a film???? singing and dancing nuns! uncontrollable kids turned into musicians who win a trophy and save their school from closure. WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF you are fed up of the endless comedies that hollywood churn out nowadays, then this movie is highly recommended. I was born after this movie was made and it says a lot that i have to go back to find the quality of comedy that is sorely lacking at present. Jack lemmon must get to a job interview in NewYork, but on the way is held up by an endless list of events which are hilarious and brilliantly thought out.
Very few actors aside from Lemmon could have played this role so well, and every scene he portrays every emotion known. He is amusing, hysterical and embarrassing all at the same time. Any fans of hold the front page, the odd couple etc will really enjoy this. Their is a remake, but this original version is far superior.
In my opinion, compromise is the theme of the film. Charlotte doesn't end up with her chap, but she is infinitely better off at the end of the film than at the beginning.
It shows a succesfull cure to a mental illness. How uplifting that must have been in 1942. Before that, mentally ill characters in Hollywood movies were dragged screaming to asylums and never seen again.
It is my favorite fim of all time, and I would love to see it in a cinema to see Bette Davis' face 15 feet tall in a close up.
