This film is terrible! Several plot errors and very bad acting (specifically the knife scene in the UN) make this film painful to watch. It is so unbelievable it is unreal! Wake up everyone!

This is such a well-crafted suspense thriller that it's almost as much a pleasure to watch the third or fourth time as it is the first. Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown) is a special effects man much in demand in Hollywood. He not only is a gifted professional in the trade, he's probably the main reason for the success of such exploitation films he's worked on as I Dismember Mama, Planet of the Female Mummies, Song of the Succubus and Rock-A-Die-Baby. Examples from these movies litter his apartment. He's recruited by Agent Lipton of the Justice Department's Witness Protection Program to stage the fake but public murder of a mafia boss, Nick DeFranco (Jerry Orbach), who will spill his guts to the Feds. All goes well until, after the event, Lipton (Cliff De ... Read More:

this is one of the best movies to come out of america -the creature looks and feels real with a potent and vivid atmosphere which pulsates both in your concious and subconcious mind,
at times you forget you e watching a movie and the characters become reality -but the best bit is the fabulous gilled quadruple fossilled creature which emerges majestically from the lagoon to enter your memory forever .
the model is life-like and the special effects better than today with modern comic hollywood adaptations looking amateur drama compared to this fascinating study of human evolution in the amazon valley.
above all it is great action and drama combined with great style and very reassured film-making .
it combines the best of many genreas ... Read More:

DVD : The Jerk [1980]

The Jerk [1980]

starring: Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, Catlin Adams, Jackie Mason
directed by: Carl Reiner
July 01, 1999

I'll try not to go off on quoting the funniest lines in this review because you really do have to see it to appreciate how hilarious this is.

Instead, I'll give a few names of movies that are obviously heavily influenced by this. Dumb and Dumber for a start, has the same structure and, is POSSIBLY less funny that The Jerk.

Genius scenes like cat-juggling, the PI's running style and Navin's recollection of the amount of time he's spent with his girlfriend really leave an impact that you'll laugh about months after you've seen the movie when the slightest everyday event reminds you of some of the most original comedy ever.
