One of the films of the mid-1990s when America had gotten out of its anti-Russian paranoia after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Russians and the Americans are working together against international terror-mongers. A real cocktail. The Russian mafia, slightly Georgian and Caucasian in those days (for the Americans, see Red Heat), the Basque separatist gone underground, the IRA getting little by little out of the closet and back on the political turf, and then the free-lance American adventurers who are doing it for the pleasure of killing in the most visible and gross way possible. But we have to note there is a traitor in the team and the traitor is a Russian of course. The Russians have never been totally redeemed. And now the Georgian mafia has gone back ... Read More:

scream of stone is based on a true story of the ascent of cerro torre in the fitzroy range in argentinian patagonia, and as such its interesting to see how the story was handled, and the elements that herzog has woven in such as the competition and the character of fingers work well to compliment the myth. although, its hard to imagaine the film would hold much interest to anyone not interested in the climbing or the locations, its a fairly slow film and in terms of pace and feel could easily have been shot ten years or more before 1991. The last sequence with the two climbers battling it out to ascend the torre is spectacular, and the ending ultimately satisying.

Gentleman, disregard that last remark, this is a B Movie situation.
Sorry I just had to say that, it's a B+ or A- movie in my eyes. This movie has it all, science fiction, horror, space vampires, zombies and an alien woman who has not quite grasped the need to wear clothes.
Based on Colin Wilson's "The Space Vampires", a massive alien ship is found hidden inside the tail of Halley's comet, the surviving humanoid inhabitants are brought back to Earth and mayhem ensues.
This is a great movie, the effects are superb (bear in mind it is over 20 years old now), the scenes in London at the end are well done, but why drive through a zombie infested city with the windows open? Sure there are lots of cliches like that and plenty of macho behaviour here but ... Read More:

The story features a man (Robert) in the throes of a separation (developing to divorce) from his wife who starts watching a young girl (Juliet) at night. Juliet is engaged to her boyfriend Patrick and they are soon to marry. One day Robert approaches Juliet in her back garden and tells her what he has been doing and, surprisingly enough, she doesn't mind. This is the only weak point in the story - I would have expected her to react rather differently, but hey, you never quite know how people are going to behave I suppose. The reasoning here, perhaps, is that Robert's prowling has no sexual overtones. This is made clear once he has started speaking with Juliet - his problem is essentially that he feels lonely and somewhat ostracised from "normal" life. From hereon Juliet takes ... Read More:
