OK, so the film is a spin off from Rear Window which, incidentally, remains a master piece to this day! James Stewart, Grace Kelly, and of course Raymond Burr, as the films Mr. Nastie, were excellent. I enjoyed the film immensely and am old enough (just) to remember the impact the film made when it was first released. James Stewart was a big star, and rightly so too, and Grace Kelly was part of every mans dream - well most.
But Disturbia has enough flair about it to be worthy of merit in its own right. Shia Lebeouf is good in the main role, as is his mum played by Carrie-Anne Moss and David Morse is excellent as Mr Nastie. And Ashley, played by Sarah Roemer, provides a most refreshing leading lady. The still photographs of Miss ... Read More:

Lovely DVD! One for the whole family to enjoy. I'm happy enough for my kids to watch the latest blockbuster action movie with its inevitable violence, but it's great to find gems like this that they can also enjoy - films which are just, well, nice!

Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible) stars as Lt Daniel Kaffee, a man who is up against the odds when he stands as lawyer for two marines who are charged with the murder of another marine.
A consistent plot with terrific acting from an a-list cast, A Few Good Men depicts the loyalties and values of life in the army and the navy exceptionally well with the issues involved including following orders, doing the right thing and friendship all executed well by Rob Reiner (When Harry met Sally).
The opening scene of soldiers standing to order and operating there guns one by one is a remarkable piece of intelligence and exquisiteness and shows what you learn in such places, which this film does exceptionally well. The direction and ... Read More:

A good ole submarine thriller. Crimson Tide is essentially about a US submarine in a state of readiness for a nuclear conflict with the USSR. When the vessel experiences a communication problem, it leaves the crew in a quandry about whether or not to actually unleash Armageddon.
This film is particularly notable for the great lead roles played by Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington. Both men are on the same side (the US military), yet are poles apart in terms of their backgrounds and style of leadership.
The stakes couldn't be higher ... and we're left to ponder if the human race now has so much capacity for war that a simple mistake could lead to World War 3.

Intense gripping submarine drama with great performances from Gene Hackman and Denzil Washington. Even though it is an old film the picture quality on blu-ray is outstanding and if you really liked the original it is worth upgrading. One star knocked off because the plot stretches credibility just a bit too far.

As a great fan of the sadly lamented Micheal Crichton, who has written a trilogy of time travel books of my own, I would recommend this DVD as a slick and entertaining adaptation of the original novel.
OK - there isn't the attention to detail and the intricately woven technical explanation that made Crichton's novel so believable that you felt you could go out and build a time machine of your own out of a fax machine and a laser pointer. But hey, this is Hollywood!
The techno-babble is plausible enough, the battle scenes are fantastic, the bad guys are wonderful and the extras on the DVD - particularly the documentary narrated by Richard Donner on how the movie was made - are extremely good ... Read More:

This film was recommended to me by a friend, and I was really not expecting that much from it. However, the film is a real gem. The setting and style are beautifully realised and it feels very of the time, the acting from Dreyfuss and DeVito also works well as a double act and one cannot help becoming caught up in the events. Very enjoyable.

This is essentially a buddy movie clothed in mountaineering garb. It is a story about two climbers: one, a Seattle based attorney, the other, a physics instructor. They are a mismatched pair of friends who are brought together because of their love for climbing. The story line is about the ultimate test that their friendship endures while high on K2, the second highest mountain in the world but the most perilous to climb.
The rock climbing scenes that take place in the first fifteen minutes of the movie are terrific to watch, even though they may not be technically correct. After all, it's a movie, not a documentary. The scenery is spectacular and the cinematography is excellent.
These friends decide to grab an opportunity to climb K2 with an expedition ... Read More:

Disturbia really boasts a top cast and marks another fine acting performance from Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) but also stands out from the crowd thanks to the stunning presence of the relatively unknown actress Sarah Roemer who is gorgeous! The image transfer is of very high quality throughout with the opening scenes in the mountains really looking stunning in High Definition, almost 3D in depth and the sound is perfectly respectable too.
Underneath all this eye candy there lies a suberb teen thriller with plenty of shocks, including a very unexpected and horrific one just five minutes in which I promise you will never see coming!,a truly sinister bad guy at its heart who really delivers the scares and some very funny moments too which help relieve the building tension, leading you in to a false sense of ...
