I've seen both of these films, and i must say they contain excellent fight scenes and car chases, these would be 2 films I'd say are "Must See", I'd class them under Action Films.

I watched this on Sky last night, after reading the description I was expecting an 'American Psycho' style film. After watching it I can say in my opinion it is far inferior. Wisely the filmakers didn't follow that path to the letter because that would have been foolish. I just think the film would have been better without some of the unfeasible sub plot. Why for instance is there a parallel story involving another killer? He kidnaps Demi Moore midway through, then he bumps into her near the end and ends up killing himself. What was the point of having that in the film? It did nothing for the main story whatsoever. The bit about his daughter possibly being a serial killer was also absurd, as was the photographer asking Mr Brooks to teach him ... Read More:

DVD : The Transporter [2003]

The Transporter [2003]

starring: Jason Statham, Qi Shu, Matt Schulze, François Berléand, Ric Young
directed by: Corey Yuen

Dear oh dear this is bad. As one other reviewer suggested this film borders on satire. To be fair the first 30 mins aren't bad, but it then descends into a long slippery slope of increasing absurdity. Although, I don't consider myself an 'action' film fan, I have watched the Bourne trilogy and can appreciate an action film if done well.

The development of the narrative is appaling, especially the relationship between Frank and 'Lie'. In the short space of about 5 mins they go from being complete strangers to sounding like a married old couple, when she complains that 'the only time you don't complain is when we're in bed' - What?!

The action sequences really are borderline hilarious. The scene where he is spinning around in ... Read More:

Frank's a deliveryman, but not the type to listen to Wogan whilst tootling along the back lanes delivering home shopping catalogues. Frank delivers packages between gansters and high-end criminals; no questions asked, no names, just a service perfectly executed.

Things go awry when he breaks one of his own rules and looks inside a `package' to find a gagged and bound hostage. Pretty soon his life is in danger as he tries to hunt down and bring to justice those who tried to kill him.

"The Transporter" starts off like a comic book to film action hero flick (imagine a less glamorous Batman without the suit), and ends up feeling like a made for TV movie. The fight scenes are incredibly over the top, but you expect that. They are mostly impressive, ... Read More:

DVD : The Unbelievable Truth [1989]

The Unbelievable Truth [1989]

An early film of Hal Hartley, this is less slick in production but much more inventive, fresh and lively than some of his later movies. All of the subtle human observations of directors like Bill Forsyth are present, as is a nice low key attitude of direction and of the acting. Despite a few strangely surreal comedic set pieces, the characters are all just about believable as the population of 'hicksville'. Robert Burke has just the right weight for the part and plays it gently but with conviction. Sadly this movie is not available in the UK on DVD and even DVD copies in NTSC (American) format are becoming quite rare in the US. Let's hope the publishers find out there's a market over here for the work.

I cant begin to describe how awful this film is. The story is dreadful and the acting is even worse, I hate quitting on a film so I forced myself to watch all the way through and by the time it was finished I was propping my eyes open with matchsticks!!!!How rubbish and a waste of time and effort. DO NOT BOTHER!

Can someone give me a credible explanation what a middle-aged man is doing conducting a pen-pal relationship with a girl in her early teens? Once I've been convinced that there is nothing sinister about this, I might be able to take this film seriously. But until then it's just a hard trek through a jungle of bad plotting, bad acting and bad direction. In other words, just like any other Seagal extravaganza.
