Remember Ronald Reagan, the actor-president, the acting president, the president-actor, we will never know. Was he serious about his empire of evil or was he joking one of these good words produced by black humor, or at least very dark grey humor? No one will even know, because Reagan himself did probably not know. The film is a direct reflection on that period from that period. If we entrust our own security to machines what would happen? Machines have no sense of life and death and for them everything is nothing but an exercise, a game, a playground dare or challenge or discussion because they have no ethical sense at all. The film, or rather this question is at the basis of the Terminator series too. Machines, if we let them develop too much, ... Read More:

I read a scathing review of this movie recently--the issue was that the reviewer LOVED it (a child of the 80's, like myself), but the version they had bought was in the pan-and-scan format. This was found to be so upsetting they did not recommend buying it. I totally agree that the cinematography is a crucial element of this film. However, the DVD that I purchased from seller "selectcheaper" is wide-screen, so do not worry about the only version being out there is pan-and-scan. I'm not sure where the other reviewer bought their copy, but I suspect it may have been bootlegged. If you receive a pan-and-scan, return it immediately. If you (the upset reviewer) are reading this, please try and find the widescreen; it's still stunningly beautiful.

directed by: Mike Marvin

I watched this few years ago and enjoyed it and at 21 i still like it and i got in on dvd couple days ago and theres 3 reasons why i like it... 1. car(s)/scenes 2. the girl 3. fan of charlie sheen movies... Theres 2 main factors you gotta look at when watching 80's movies like this one and they are... 1. more likely to be budget movies 2. back then the technology wasnt as good as it is now... I enjoy watching majority of 80's films no matter how crap they may seem, its just personnel taste at the end of the day...

Ghost Dad [1990] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Bill Cosby, Kimberly Russell, Denise Nicholas, Ian Bannen, Christine Ebersole
directed by: Sidney Poitier
March 01, 2005

A tale which proves that good old fashioned family films are still the way to stick two fingers up at the goverment and restore a sense of moralistic virtue on our more then confused than infused youth of today.

Bill Cosby, in what has been called "The Finest portrayal of a paranormal phenonomenon since The Invisible Man" (Entertainment Tonight", gives a career diving performance as a ghost who struggles with death.

This film asks the important questions which we dare to announce ourselves...will anyone care when I'm dead? If I died today would anyone bother visiting my rotting corpse of a body infested with maggots and flies...?

To find the answer my friends...you have to watch "Ghost Dad", the most crucial cultural commentary available ... Read More:

DVD : The Secret Agent Club [1996]

The Secret Agent Club [1996]

starring: Hulk Hogan, Matthew McCurley, Lesley-Anne Down, Maurice Woods, Danny McCue
directed by: John Murlowski
February 22, 2000

To be honest, you wouldn't think that Hulk Hogan, a wrestler, would really be much good in films. You would be wrong. In fact he is very good, as we can see in his performances in 'Thunder In Paradise' and 'Suburban Commando'. I not saying that he is a brilliant actor, because he's not, but i guess when he's playing a tough guy in a film with plenty of action, his acting ability doesn't seems to matter that much.

Unfortunatly the storyline is very weak and unbeliveable but never the less, still entertaining. Hulk Hogan plays a man who unbeknown to his son, is actually a undercover secret agent who has got hold of a new military weopon, which the 'baddies' will go to great lengths to get.

Despite the fact that Hulk Hogan is not the best actor in the world, the ... Read More:

An Unmarried Woman [1978] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Matthew Arkin, Raymond J. Barry, Alan Bates, Kelly Bishop, Ken Chapin
directed by: Paul Mazursky

Set in the 70's about a mother in her early 40's who is suddenly on her own after her husband leaves for a younger women. Very relevant for today as we see her grow and become more confident day by day. A really lovely film to share with a girlfriend (not a wife!!)and a bottle of red wine. A friend of mine going through a similar experience identified completely with the character, who is fantastically portrayed by Jill Clayburgh.
Not a must see but a nice night in.
