I am amazed at the support for this movie, and can only assume it's testosterone fuelled young men, as for me RAMBO is disappointing. The movie tries to close the circle on John Rambo, and close the legacy of the Rambo series. With Rocky it worked but here it doesn't.
Why? well because the film is just an excuse to show unbelievable violence and have a blast through a machine gun bursting heads and limbs in every direction. Most Directors stop short of showing violence to children, but Stallone doesn't hold back here - it's quite shocking in parts.
The plot is simple, missionary do gooders get caught up by rebels and a corrupt armys in the Thai outback and are victims of genicide and brutual rape and murder. Step in Rambo to ... Read More:

I used to love this film when I was younger. I've never read the X-Men comics though I did watch some cartoons based off them when I was a kid so I had a vague idea of what X-Men was about even if I wasn't a huge fan. I don't know how true the characters are to their comic book selves, or whether the film itself feels like X-Men, but this film is good enough to be able to stand alone and be recognised in its own right, not just as an interpretation of the comics.
The plot was interesting enough and fast paced, the characters were introduced very well, some of the casting was superb (Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman all play their parts with believability), and as a whole the movie held together well and was fun to watch. The idea ... Read More:

I've always been reluctant of sequels especially the Disney ones. They've never sounded as good.
However we recieved this second hand and my sister decided to watch it..Out of interest once reading the case I decided to sit and watch through it and I was surprised to find it was not as bad as I thought it might.
I do love follow up stories, if they are done properly and this was done very well. An enjoyable follow up to the original and sounds better than the third and some of Disney's latest work. I love story by all accounts, which means it treads the same lines but the history and the consequences of that history is what makes it worthwhile, as is Timon and Pumba who are still as funny if not moreso.
his film was pleasant to watch. "Why" do you ask? Because, compared to Disney's other "sequels" that have went to theaters like the "Jungle Book 2" and "Piglet's Big Movie," this movie is a materpiece. I love it! Here are a few reasons: a) the ENTIRE cast (except for the British comedian Rowan Atkinson as Zazu) return to reprise their roles, including new voices of Neve Campbell from the "Scream" series as Kiara and Jason Marden "A Goofy Movie" as Kovu, b) the animation was way above average for a "sequel" and c) the story is actually good! I've seen some garbage with these recent Disney sequels but this one has a very good message.
Here's a brief summary of the film: Simba and Nala have a daughter named Kiara, who, like her father, is very curious and eager to explore. ... Read More:

I thank the reviewer "Beth C" for confirming that this production sticks to the original story.
The production values for a TV mini series are pretty good, but evidence of rush abound everywhere in the inadequately prepared performances, which makes me reluctant to criticise the acting.
However Cassandra comes over very well as accurately forecasting the future with nobody believing her (the result of a curse from the god Apollo).
As the Trojan War is one of the world's best known events/myths/legends it hardly seems worth spending three hours watching this DVD.
Being a long-term fan of the X-Men comics, I greeted the news of an X-Men movie with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. With the possible exception of the Superman movies, superheros hadn't exactly been portrayed in a positive light. I was most concerned for Wolverine, the team's feisty Canadian bruiser. He is my favourite character and I was desperate that he should be portrayed right, but knew of no actor who would be able to pull it off.
By coincidence, the first photo I saw from the new movie was of Wolverine, battling on a train. I was astounded, everything seemed to be in place - the trademark upswept hairstyle, the claws, even the leather jacket. Things began to look up!
But I digress! For those of you who have not seen the film, here is a brief plot synopsis. ... Read More:

I don't know. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I remember learning in high school English Lit several decades ago that there are three basic elements to a story: protagonist, antagonist, conflict. To me, "protagonist" implies someone that the reader (listener or watcher) can root for. Hold that thought.
In SHINER, Michael Caine plays Billy "Shiner" Simpson, a British boxing promoter so brutal and unsavory that he's been excluded from the "legitimate" fight world and limited to fringe bouts. Now, he's maneuvered his own son, "Golden Boy" Eddie, into an un-licensed match-up with an American lightweight title holder managed by Frank Spedding (Martin Landau). The big event in a dumpy arena is the high point of Billy's professional and personal life. And, by the way, ... Read More:

A fast moving, gripping monster flick. The script is predictable, but the acting and special effects are very good indeed. I don't think I have seen Johnny Messner before but he is a personable character and I shall look into his other offerings. The rest of the cast were also unknown to me, but I love seeing new talent and none of these young people disappointed.
There are loads of white water and thrills.
Well worth a viewing.
