I've seen both of these films, and i must say they contain excellent fight scenes and car chases, these would be 2 films I'd say are "Must See", I'd class them under Action Films.

The film opens with a fight scene which feels more ridiculous than impressive, but at least the main character seems to have been given some sort of personality since the first film.
Transporter 2 is a definite improvement but there are still a lot moments which exist purely to look good. There's nothing wrong with that of course - particularly in an action film, but when it's obvious, and there's nothing else to it, it just draws attention to the lack of substance.
This film has so much missing, but in the face of it all it manages to be actually quite enjoyable for the most part. It's very well directed and the car scenes are examples of perfect action cinematography - even if they are completely unbelievable. They ... Read More:

the most influential and seminal work to come out of hollywood on modern day warfare .
it is both stunning and philosophical with a very pluralistic look at the vietnam conflict where it has no sentimental observations about the victims but just a non chalant attitude to the protagonists who are involved in war as a casual everyday necessity.
it is neither patronising nor glorifying just seeking to express the perceived truth from the makers viewpoint and it reaches a celestial height both creatively and artistically .
matthew modine gives a great performance but the limelight is stolen by the cameos and short -lived but memorable characters played by a terrific cast of gifted actors .

This project started out with the intention to film Len Deighton's 'Bomber' with it's dark sub-plots about remorse for the damage inflicted on Germany, growing socialism in the RAF '44 onwards, class conflicts between NCO pilots and officers. But it wouldn't 'play in Milwaukee' so the money men and 'associate producers' stepped in and we get this.
Schmatlzy, hackneyed, Yoosay-centric tosh. Actually as a comedy it's worth two stars as it is toe-curlingly funny (reading Keats against a backdrop of billowing wheat - please!) but as a drama it's remarkably weak and simplistic.
You may find the title for this review very strange, but there's a good reason why I wrote it.
I bought this recent edition of Kubrick's Vietnam war drama a few months ago expecting a great deal of extras to be included there. Specifically, I had seen snippets of the behind the scenes - or making of footage as it's popularly known these days - shot by Stanley's daughter, Vivian Kubrick, during filming of 'Full Metal Jacket'(FMJ) and that she never completed, on 'A Life in Pictures' documentary. Now, that was quite revealing and most promising, as was the 'Making The Shining' documentary that Vivian had also filmed. Thus, I was expecting a lengthier version of it to be featured here. Alas, none of it was included in this disc!
Nevertheless, after having recently seen ... Read More:

I've had this film for ages and have only just got around to watching it. I wish I had watched it sooner. Loved the storyline. It makes you laugh, makes you go 'awwrr', makes you cry and really does make you think about things which are important to you. Well worth watching, whatever your age!

I watched this after watching the Blu-ray editions of 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining and was horribly disappointed with the picture quality. The picture is extremely washed out and covered in noise. I have a DVD release that actually looks far better (aside from the lower resolution).
Also, it's in the wrong aspect ratio. Full Metal Jacket was shot at 1.37:1 (non-anamorphic 35mm), which was Stanley Kubrick's preferred format from Clockwork Orange onwards. Recent DVD releases have respected this, yet this release doesn't.
Finally (and most staggering of all), the menu on this disc simply contains a link to the trailer. There are no extras, no chapter menus, nothing!
Not so sure about this one .Carlyle didn't really cut it for me . I didn't see any of the manic power which is apparent from the actual footage of the man .His voice is in the wrong register and many of the scenes are just too hammy ( the German Workers Party meeting for example) Obviously no one wants to be accused of glorifying this subject matter ; but did they really need to add a scene where he beats his dog ? We all know he had a screw loose and there are plenty of well documented episodes which could have featured rather than create this kind of speculative event which only detracts from an otherwise brave attempt to get at the man behind the myth .

A superb film...really, really great. A clever take on the story, well written, well acted, great sets and costumes, imaginative and... well...I could go on and on! I was a bit apprehensive at first, thinking that it would be another fairy-tale remake by numbers, but decided to give it a go because I love The Henson Company. I dont think i've ever been so gripped by a film. The acting is top notch all the way through, partly thanks to a strong star cast. Matthew Modine gives a strong performance as Jack, faultless throughout. Mia Sara plays Ondine (Jack's love interest) with emotion and depth. Other names to add to the list are Vanessa Regrave, Daryl Hannah, Jon Voight, Richard Attenborough, Bill Barretta (who has done tons of stuff with the Henson Company) and James Corden (from Gavin and Stacey) All of ...
