Two friends, Stan and Billy, take a road trip down south but run into trouble when they are mistakenly arrested for murder in Alabama. The hapless youngsters have no money to hire an attorney but Billy's cousin Vinny (Joe Pesci) is a lawyer so they call on him to help. What they don't realise is that Vinny took 6 attempts to pass his legal exams and, what's more, has no courtroom experience to speak of. What follows is none stop humour and 'laugh aloud' moments as the brash New Yorker sweeps into the hick town accompanied by his strident girlfriend, Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei). Vinny's lack of court etiquette, such as dressing in leathers and arriving late, quickly upsets the traditionalist judge, played by a brilliantly dry Fred Gwynne. ... Read More:

Kevin Costner has always been one of those actors you either love or hate, much like the singing and celebrity of Victoria Beckham or Marmite.
It is unfortunate then, that it is these personal feelings which cloud judgement about whether or not to see a film. Because, in a time when the idea of race relations is once again at the forefront of the news, this simple story of a man open to change can tell us a lot.
Lt John Dunbar (Coster) is a civil war hero. Given the choice of outpost as a reward for a selfless act on the battlefield, he picks the furthest place he can find, the prairee. Also known as Indian country.
Far from being the war-mongering madmen his superiors are presented as, Dunbar is a quiet, docile ... Read More:

I'm sorry, but this movie was a total WASTE of money. The movie never lead anywhere, and if it was, it was so predictable! Also, I have to say that it was very unrealistic....don't get me wrong, I love a good teen/pre-teen film every now and again, but this was just a failure in everyway. I wish they had a better wardrobe stylist as well - all the outfits seemed a bit dull, or like someone too old had picked them out...pre-teen films, like this should have been, should be bright and colourful with good catchy music - the music really did not seem right, in the way they used it either. The only reason I watched it all the way through, was because I hate wasting money....thought I might as well watch it as I paid for it...I was falling asleep in it.

I'm not American, and I'm not a bloke who like's sports. In fact I am a woman who generally prefers figure-skating to Ice Hockey. And yet I loved this movie. Originally it was one of a handful of rentals in a Dvd shop that we wouldn't have bothered with if there was anything else we would have thought worth watching; and that would've been a mistake. This movie made me laugh and cry in equal measures, and I found I held my breath in the way male friends assure me they do just before their home team scores a goal a few minutes towards the end of the match. A sweet and pleasant movie, best watched a cold wet sunday whilst curled up under a blanket. Not to be missed.
I thought this film might have some promise from the description and comment. At the end of the end of the film and the desperately poor plot, I cannot believe I had watched it right through!!!! As a Sci Fi type film, it had little to capture the imagination, and when the end suddenly happened, I was shocked as i thought there might be so much more to the film. It was almost like watching a TV episode of something. Thumbs down for this movie from me! I cannot imagine what the hollywood stars were doing signing up to this script.

This feature should be filed under that elusive category `One of those really good films you have never heard of'. The story is beautifully handled and filmed by Atom Egoyam and is perhaps his best movie to date. The story unfolds at a gentle pace in interconnecting threads and flashbacks and centres around a solid performance from Ian Holm as the troubled lawyer ambulance chasing in a community that has suffered a tragic communal accident whilst battling demons with his own personal tragedy (a hopeless relationship with his drug addicted daughter). Sarah Polley also features strongly in another troubled father/daughter relationship and survivor of the accident who throughout the film narrates the tale of the Pied Piper as a flashback babysitter which is cleverly intertwined with the ...
