This film takes a great pleasure in depicting a mediocre criminal, a drug dealer actually, who considers himself a hero, a genius and maybe even a god on earth. His initial success he analyzes as his own and does not see it is the success of a system and when he fails it's because he crossed a line somewhere: too much and too sure of himself maybe even arrogant and condescending. Then his story is a story of successive failures in between short periods of success and long periods of prison as a result of it all. He ends up betrayed by his own partners who deliver him to the FBI and DEA one night in order to get themselves out of the business clean and unharmed. Finks, that's what his friends were. But he deserved it. Then the story seems to ... Read More:

A brilliant film that stands the test of time. This movie depicts a day in the life of Ferris, who decides to take the day off school by outwitting the adults in his life. This is Matthew Broderick at his best and features Jennifer Grey before Patrick Swayze got his hands on her in "Dirty Dancing".

Rambo Stallone's rock-climbing adventure is a guilty pleasure best seen while passing out in a drunken haze. If that's not your style, consider drinking copious amounts of alcohol to make it through the DVD hilarious commentary from Stallone and director Renny Harlin.
Recorded separately methinks, Harlin's commentary clearly shows that he thinks his work is phenomenal (it's not). He's an idiot and a bore.
Stallone seems reserved in his comments. That is, until the end when he talks about "psychic crossroads" and career choices he's made in the past. Ha ha.
Bought this when I saw it cheap after about the first 10 minutes you know you have cocked up and should have kept your money in your pocket. This is total crap the acting and so called story is below average I really thought this would be good but it was a big let down. The blood and gore is quite tame so if you like your horrors with a bit more of a bite I would advise you to stay clear of this. If you enjoy your films which is mostly in the dark and limited scares and gore this is for you. I recently watched the second film Return To House On Haunted Hill and that was a slightly better but don't expect to much because you won't find it with either film.

This 2008 release was re-rated by the BBFC and finally passed with a 15 Certificate with all previous cuts waived.
Needless to say, this "Die Hard on a mountain" is one of Stallone's best films up to date, with brilliant performances by Michael Rooker, John Lithgow, Caroline Goodall and Craig Fairbrass.
Alternatives:
Die Hard [1989], Die Hard 2: Die Harder [1990] The ones that started it all!
Under Siege [1992], Under Siege 2 [1995] Die Hard on a warship/train
Sudden Death [1996] Inferior, but with a similar plot, starring J.C. Van Damme

One gets addicted to drugs, for sure, but that is only a small part of the business. This film tries to show how the addiction is an attitude, a social behavior, an act of belonging to a group, a community, a social class nearly, but not that far away from it. Here the dependence is threefold. First the girlfriend who is determined to stay addicted because her addiction is moderate enough to be controlled. Then the boyfriend and his own girlfriend and this time there is some status question here and to go on is to belong to a certain level of humanity, a certain level of masculinity. And then there is the wider community of the junkies, dealers and other characters in that farcical, yes farcical, melodrama. Then there are various events that make that addiction stick. ... Whilst most of the reviews have said it all I still felt moved to add my 2 cents worth. Starting slowly and gently I was immediately comfortable with this movie but wondering if it was going to go anywhere. Perhaps it might lull you into a false sense of security and then explode into violence. There is humour and wit aplenty but for me it wasn't a comedy, more a tale of love and friendship and a healthy dose of real life. The characters are all immediately recognisable, be they American, British, or from any part of the world. The word comfortable returns again and gradually I was drawn into their small town world and felt like I lived there and wanted to know these people. The stars for me are Timothy Hutton, a real fave of mine and Natalie Portman. Their tenderly drawn ... Read More:

This is one of those movies that you will want to add to your Christmas story collection.
Marina (Demi Moore) lives on the South Carolina coast with Grammy D'Arbo (Elizabeth Lawrence). She has a dream that she will meet her split apart. Then she sees a two tailed comet as a defiant sign. Sure enough Leo Lemke (George Dzundza) shows up in a boat and she runs to great her future.
There are many overlapping stories of love and lovers. They all cross lives with Marina and she changes every thing. This greatly upsets the local "Shrink" Dr. Alex Tremor (Jeff Daniels).
One of the nice touches is that every ware Marina goes there is a slight breeze of fresh air.
This leaves two main questions: Harper asks "Why does everything I touch die?" Who ... Read More:
