The film in itself was quite good, but the DVD itself is very disappointing: it has no subtitles at all.
In this day and age there is no excuse for a film to come out on DVD without any subtitles. The dialogue in this film is wonderfully beautiful, and it is a real shame not to share this in the form of sub-titles. English is not my native tongue, and I would've really appreciate it.
No are no extras on the DVD either, just the film. This is basically a VHS cassette in DVD format.

I remember watching Hanover street years ago, before most people had ever heard of home computing, and loved it so much that I took a few years, once I'd got a computer, searching to see if I cold find it on DVD anywhere. Gallant to the end Harrison never discloses that he has twigged on to who the other guy is, ... Read More:

Terry Gilliam (from Monty Python) directed this and it shows. Michael Palin is a young man in dung infested old times determined to make his impact. It's not up to vintage Python standards but this is cut from the same mold & it has some very funny moments. Great stuff.

I bought this DVD after reading of it in Kenneth Williams' Diaries The Kenneth Williams Diaries. I was prepared for a poor production from what he wrote on p.549: "...everyone gathered to watch 63 minutes of what has been shot so far on 'Hound of the Baskervilles'. It was all rather depressing. Again & again in this script, I've thought 'That is hilarious' yet the fact remains, there is nothing hilarious in any of the stuff I saw in the cinema today. It looked as if cues weren't being taken up with enough expertise & there are certain bits... which don't really belong to the story at all."
How right he was. The film is a bunch of barely-connected sketches which must have been either poorly directed, shot or edited - probably all three - because ... Read More:
