Having seen the fifth season of Shameless earlier this year I thought I'd go back to the beginning and buy the first series. It's an insight on estate life (though much exaggerated!!) and every cast member gives funny, loveable performances. It is very well written and will have you in pain from laughing so much.

In my opinion this is an excellent series. Not for those of a nervous disposition as there are some grusome scenes but these only add to the high drama of the series. All the cast play their parts with great realism with Ken Stott outstanding as the lead officer in the investigations. The plots are well conceived and leave very few clues as to each killers identity. You will need to concentrate on the action as it is fast moving with the main characters closely relating on a personal level within their professional duty.

the gallagher family and friends return for a third series of the darkened comedy that blends tragedy and tension with laughs, some of which are sick, thats the shameless way and thats what we like about the show.
Over the eight episodes here the show progresses well with characterisation and development, without ever getting too ahead of itself, subtle parts are released, but as for the overall content, well thats a different matter, the show is packed with madness from top to bottom, violence, crime, grave robbing,i could go on readers.
Underneath the belly of the beast is a sense of love and honour and that keeps the show real to the viewer in a way,the gallagher family and their surroundings are crazy but they are still a family who are ... Read More:

This second series is has good it gets. All the cast work well together.Victorias humour will always stand the test of time.
My advice buy series one&two together, and view when ever you need a pick me up. Remind all your close friends what
they are missing, don't lend them the D.V.Ds you may never get them back.

Most films about murders cover either the perpetrators or the police who hunt them, only rarely are the victims or the wider impact of the crimes considered. The 2006 ITV drama-documentary 'See No Evil' takes the unusual and highly effective device of focusing on Myra Hindley's younger sister and brother-in-law, Maureen & David Smith, to show the devastating impact the Moors Murders had on everyone they touched. David Smith was no angel himself and, in dire financial straits, he had conspired with Hindley & Brady to rob - but not harm - the last victim, whose murder he inadvertently witnessed. Horrified, he immediately turned them in and was the chief prosecution witness at their trial but was tainted in the public's mind as the 'third Moors Murderer'. ... Read More:

When series one of Shameless first showed on tv, I didn't really take much notice of it to be honest as I didn't really think it would be my cup of tea.
After hearing a couple of friends raving on about the show and catching a couple of the new episodes and a few re-runs of the series one, I realised how wrong my first impressions of the show was and decided to purchase the series 1-4 dvd from Amazon so I could catch up to date with the current series.
If you are new to Shameless like myself, the show is set on the fictional Chatsworth Housing Estate and follows the everyday lives of the Gallagher family. The first series mainly centres around Frank who is head of the Gallagher family, although from the second series onwards the writters ... Read More:

One of the best comedies of recent years. And I'd like to clear up the point about the "laughter track" - no track has been added because I was at the recording of one episode. Believe me, the laughter is all spontaneous.

I bought the box set as a prezzy for my wife last Christmas (I know- cheapskate) not realising that I had also bought it for her birthday the year before!
One Sunday we sat in bed all day and watched the entire set.
This last two weeks as I've gone up to bed I've found it playing every night and my wife chuckling away.
The concept of the show is so simple (I think there are only 3 or 4 different camera shots used in the entire series), the ensemble is so natural (there's no playing for laughs - even with Bren's mother) and the situations are real.
And laugh? We don't stop. "they're real monks', "there's 2 ways to Urmston" "Low fat spread Bren, I'm on a diet' and "I've got my cone out".
I think this will (well it has as it happens) wear ... Read More:
