I bought this for my 3 and a half year old boy. I thought it would be a really nice film for him to watch the last few day before Christmas. Unfortunately I find it completely unsuitable for a 3 year old. Christmas is a happy and joyful time, the last thing I want is to spoil that for a 3 year old. I will be returning this item as I am very disspointed with it. The constant use of the word "bloomin" is definately not exceptable language for a small child and showing him such a grumpy Santa would just shatter his expectations of what Christmas is about. The snowman story is lovely, but as it is on the same disc it is of no use to us. Don't buy it!

'The Princess Bride' is finally getting its own Region 2 Special Edition DVD? Inconceivable! (Well, it's about time MGM got their act together. Let's face it, Region 1 have had more Special Editions released than there are R.O.U.Ss in the Fire Swamp.) This is a 2 disc set so let's hope we get all the extras the other region has had plus more to make up for our long wait!

In this box you get 4 full length Chevy Chase films;
Vacation is an excellent film where the Griswolds are driving across the country to a theme park. There are many laughs along the way, from car crashes, dog deaths, family deaths, theiving and holding John Candy at Gun Point.
European Vacation is probably the weakest film in the series, and isn't as funny, but it does feature the Griswolds traveling across, Britain where they get into trouble at the B&B and at Stone Henge, France where they visit the Efle Tower, and Germany where Clark gets into a fight. Theres also an appearnce by Eric Idle in this film too.
Christmas Vaction is most likely the best, and is full of laughs from start to end. It's simply Hilarious!

I love this film! Shakespeare converted well into film form is a delight (see Branagh's 'Much Ado' as well) and this film is excellent.
All the characters are note perfect, and there is not a single weak performance amongst them.
Although some scenes are swapped around or merged, that helps to show the cohesion of the plot strands and works extremely well.
Characters have a dark as well as a light side; Sir Toby is a classic funny drunk, but he's also a man who is exploiting Sir Andrew for his money and keeping Maria at arm's length. Mel Smith is absolutely brilliant in the role.
Feste the Clown is a much more tragic figure than the only usually portrayed; a man with a deep melancholy, driven back to Olivia's house for lack ... Read More:

You've got to love this show; it's just a shame the DVD's are edited and BBC don't seem to be bothered about releasing any more material. The BBC has released Red Dwarf, Blackadder etc on DVD in their entirety and un-edited but Not the Nine O'Clock News appears to have been overlooked. Extras and bonus features would be nice but BBC please, please, please give the show the respect it deserves and release the full series' and unedited.

From the makers of Spooks, and Life on Mars, Hustle is again, a cut aabove. The BBC shows it can screen some pretty impressive stuff, with the twists and turns, the focus on detail and plot development. The result - a group of characters, that by today's standards are some of the most hated people in society, and shows a 'human' side, unlike anything ever shown before, using ideas like, 'Never Cheat an Honest Man'.
The characters are well chosen, and the on-screen chemistry is over-flowing. Adrian Lester plays Michael Stones, GBH convicted leader of the group of long and short con-artists. Marc Warren (a.k.a Pvt. Blithe - 'Band of Brothers') once again, lives up to his standard, and plays convincingly, the over-eager, full-of-himself Danny Blue. Each wonderfully crafted episode ... I heard a lot of great things about this film, so I thought I would check it out. The film starts fairly slow, and takes a while to get into the real plot of it. It is about drugs, music, gangs, and the lot in London in the 1970's-1980's, and probably does portray a decent image.
The film is ok, but I didnt find it all that entertaining or meaningful in anyway, and got really bored and barely got through it all.
This film maybe suits some people, but i've seen better attempts done on similar film to make this forgetable.

I was growing up in Edinburgh at about the same time as the main characters and was about the same age as them but somehow I missed seeing this film when it came out. I also read the positive reviews here. So I really wanted to like this. For me the acting, production and story telling all seemed a bit amateur and the whole thing could have done with more editing. The location shots of Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland - some of which are no longer around - are fun however.
