A very funny film, with a first rate cast, MISS CONGENIALITY deals with examining the value of an American institution. When I was growing up one of the yearly television events I always recalled was the "Miss America" pageant (as well as the other beauty pageant for "Miss Universe"). Watching Bert Parks' singing the "Miss America" song was on the same level as watching the Thanksgiving Day parade or the Superbowl. The beauty of this movie is that it truly likes and cares about the people inhabiting it. There are no cheap jokes or sight gags. The humor develops from real situations and real characters starting with Harper Stewart (Taye Diggs). Life is good for Harper. His first novel is about to be published. He is in a comfortable two-year relationship and it is the weekend of the wedding of Lance (Morris Chesnut) and Mia (Monica Calhoun), two of his closest college friends. The bad news is his novel is a thinly veiled account of his college years and an advance copy of the book has found it's way into the hands of another college friend, Jordan (Nia Long). Jordan has in turn read the book and passed it along to Harper's inncer circle of college freinds. The really ... Read More:

I think this movies directer try to say so much about this movie, but I think the result only turns out to be long, boring and a very, very cliche lovestory. The only reason why this film gets 3 stars instead of 2, is that Christian Bales performens again is so brilliant in this movie.

The film started off well & I settled in for a good film. However, when the guys get sent down, the movie became quite predictable. I wouldn't say that this film is anything remotely better than ok.
