There is no doubt that LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE has suffered during its transfer to DVD. While the picture quality is acceptable in this UK box set release of Season Two, the sound is absolutely terrible being either muffled, or distorted, or a combination of both. Either way, it spoils my enjoyment of the episodes that looked and sounded much better when the show was originally transmitted in the 1970's. There is one bonus over the US DVD release, the opening titles, missing from each episode in that set, are restored.
The only thing that annoys me more is the large volume of reviewers here at Amazon who keep giving this product five stars and listing all the episodes. If you are about to write a review, please consider this: ... Read More:

Finally out on DVD in the UK, this season of Little House on the Prairie is a pleasure to have in my DVD collection! Yes, there are no special features and the picture quality isn't perfect, but I for one believe that the sound quality on this season is far better than in season 1 and 2! All in all I have no regrets in purchasing this item and look forward to rewatching these classic episodes many times.

My girls are hooked on to Little House series as I was when I was their age (9 & 6yrs). We can't wait to get the next Season 5. We all love it!!
The quality of the DVD is superb too.

Season 6 is a vast improvement on season 5. There is more character development. We see half-pint Laura grow into a young woman finding love with Almanzo. Each programme that concentrates on the Ingalls family is very good. Melissa Gilbert is superb as Laura and I've yet to see a TV family gel as well as the Ingalls. Each actor lives the part. We also see more development of the Olesons which is very good. Some of the stories are poor and there is a degree of inconsistency but all in all Season 6 is back to a standard we come to expect of Little House.
Technically, the picture quality and sound are a vast improvement on previous DVD releases and there are extras of interviews with cast members.

I think it's sometimes tempting to think of 'Little House On The Prairie's final (full) season as a somewhat sad end to what has generally amounted to almost a decade of wonderful stories involving the many characters we've come to know and love particuarly in light of the fact the family most central to the series (the Ingalls) had now left. However, the series being based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's books proves that primarily the stories are about her (and not solely her family) so there is perhaps some justification in carrying on without them.
Actually the loss of the Ingalls family isn't as great as one might imagine because in many ways the retitled 'Little House - A New Beginning' manages to find a new perspective by refocusing on different characters and ... Read More:
