Rating: - IT'S JAY BRANNAN!
I thought I am going to regret this after seeing the two reviews here but it is not that bad, really. Jay Brannan looks pretty d**n hot too
Rating: - A challenging film with a big heart and JAY BRANNAN!
Looking at some of the other reviews I can understand why 'Holding Trevor' might not be to everyone's tastes, however it deals with issues such as drug abuse, HIV and heartbreak, so if you're looking for something along the lines of 'Another Gay Movie' you wont find it here! That said, there is a good balance of wonderfully uplifting and sexy moments, mostly surrounding Trevor and new boyrfriend Ephram who comes on the scene about twenty minutes into the film. He's the dishy doctor who is the perfect antidote to Trevor's sad predicament (his ex is a junkie). You also have Jay Brannan, a huge plus and great actor, who has all the best and funniest lines. Rating: - POOR VERY VERY POOR
Promising storyline ruined by seriously improvised bad acting and bad direction. The trailer was good but this film was so bad and even the ending was predictable. Poor. Avoid.
Rating: - Too slow
A promising themes and subject, but so slow in coming together. The "catty" friend, Jake is a very annoying friend, who appeals to all things stereotype, who I think is in the film to do nothing more than add a song, which ended up being very self indulgent; both of the director and the actor's ego!!
The central friendship between Jake, Trevor and Andie had no chemistry or feeling and I just couldn't believe that they were close friends at all.
All in all, a bit whiny and slow. I'm writing this review while there is still 10 minutes of the film left - a poor sign...
