Dont be put off by the rotten title or the ghastly cover. This is as good as comedy horror gets. I actually won this in a TV competition but I would have bought it as it received some pretty good reviews upon its release. Some of the gags will make you smile rather than laugh out loud but its a good film. Oliver Platt as the maniacal but well intentioned conservationist is the best on show, however running him a close second is Brendan Gleeson's slow witted sheriff. The two bounce of each other really well. The effects are good and its short running time ensures the next gag or thrill is just around the corner. At £2.98 this is a steal.

I read a scathing review of this movie recently--the issue was that the reviewer LOVED it (a child of the 80's, like myself), but the version they had bought was in the pan-and-scan format. This was found to be so upsetting they did not recommend buying it. I totally agree that the cinematography is a crucial element of this film. However, the DVD that I purchased from seller "selectcheaper" is wide-screen, so do not worry about the only version being out there is pan-and-scan. I'm not sure where the other reviewer bought their copy, but I suspect it may have been bootlegged. If you receive a pan-and-scan, return it immediately. If you (the upset reviewer) are reading this, please try and find the widescreen; it's still stunningly beautiful.

Although the most prolific of the 70s directors who worked their way up from superior exploitation to the mainstream, John Carpenter's flame may have burned the brightest but it also burned the most briefly before he descended into lifeless hackwork. Even the more promising projects floundered when confronted with his increasingly pedestrian handling. His 1995 remake of Village of the Damned is a classic example. Ill-advisedly relocated to a California coastal town inhabited by Superman, Luke Skywalker and Crocodile Dundee's girlfriend, the special effects are more prominent and the body count is multiplied more than ten times as villagers burn themselves to death, impale themselves, doctors blind or perform autopsies on themselves, all staged with ... DVD : Dream a Little Dream [1989] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

Dream a Little Dream [1989] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Corey Feldman, Jason Robards, Corey Haim, Piper Laurie, Harry Dean Stanton
directed by: Marc Rocco
October 21, 2003

Being a fan of the two Corey's I decided to collect their movies, all of which I like.

When I first watched Dream a Little Dream I was confused, although I liked the film I thought it was strange the way everything happened so quickly in each scene.

But then, the second time I watched it I absolutely loved it. Quite rightly, it is one of those films that you always like more the second time round. If your a fan of 80's movies then you're sure to like this one. 5/5.

DVD : Jimmy Reardon [1987]

Jimmy Reardon [1987]

starring: River Phoenix, Ann Magnuson, Meredith Salenger, Matthew Perry, Ione Skye
directed by: William Richert
September 16, 2002

Many of River Phoenixes films are ground breaking. People see him in such films as Running On Empty, My Own Private Idaho & Stand By Me, and many who have seen this film think it is rubbish! It's not - but its not ssupposed to be ground breaking!!!!! Its a funny film that was made for a teenage - river - loving audience, and love it they did! You need to accept that this film (with Matthew Perry!) is a great laugh - and it is totally different from Rivers style - thats why its good! So THINK about it before you slate it! Oh and by the way - He's trying to raise $85 to go on holidasy with his girlfriend to Hawaii! It's not Jimmys fault he gorgeous! What would you do fellas?!?!
