This is easily the best Jesus story I have seen.

The use of puppets and animation somehow enable a more real character of Jesus to be portrayed without the baggage of actors and sets. It is how I see he would really have related to people.

And of course the ending is superb.

A brilliant film - this is the kind of family film I like. A few years ago Hollywood used to make dog comedies aimed at the family audience, and it meant one thing - your kids would love it, but you would have to endure it.

Whats so great about this is it works on a lot of levels - there's comedy aimed at both adults and kids. David Arquette showcases the kind of manic comic timing which makes you wonder why you don't see him in more movies. Michael Clarke Duncan gives the tough guy with a soft underbelly performance you've come to rely on him over the years. But both are of course outdone by "Spot" the dog here.

Some brilliant slapstick comedy which will keep you laughing on repeat viewings ...

Watched the first disc of the first season last night and CRIKEY! What a pile of of old rubbish this show is. A kind of soapy teen sci-fi with the worst of both worlds. I.e, poor script, poor characters and pathetically poor action scenes. Worst is seeing the Alba girl trying to rip off the Faith character from Buffy and dying painfully in the process.

Awful to the point of funny. Axed after its 2nd season not without good reason.

Avoid if you're over 13...

"Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," one of the better recent efforts from the funny wing of Black Hollywood. (It is certainly better than "First Sunday.") The film is written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who directed but did not write the hilarious 2002 film "Undercover Brother." Lee definitely has some jokes in this one--especially involving canine love--but it seems likely that the film's comedic quartet offered some choice jokes to the script and fed off of each other, upping the comedic ante as they went along.

Roscoe (Martin Lawrence), is a talk show host who is depicted as a decent but ambitious man who revels in the celebrity life he shares with his fiancé, Bianca Kittles (Joy Bryant). As a winner of the television show, "Survival," ... Read More:

Although I admire Moore for successfully doing something about what the rest of us just read in the papers, this doc hammered in the same point over and over again, and it hammered hard - by the end of it I was knackered and numb. It's a great vehicle for thinking America is crap, if that's what makes you happy. But this issue is more complex than "if you lay off workers you're an evil man". Yes, corporate capitalism isn't ethical, but Moore offers no history, explanation, dissection, comparison, or suggestions; all he does is show pictures of rich people next to poor people. Maybe it's "Social Development 101", just a wake-up call, and the analysis and suggestions for improvement can come later. The final sequence was very touching - the head honcho of ... Read More:

Welcome to the full first season of The Fall Guy. This is an 80's TV show that is a bit cheesy but lots of fun.

Colt Seavers (Lee Majors) is a professional stunt man. But like most people in the entertainment business, he finds that doesn't cover all of his bills. So he also works as a bounty hunter for bail bondswoman Samantha Jack (Jo Ann Pflug). Helping him out are his cousin Howie (Douglas Barr) and his protege Jody (Heather Thomas). And it's a good thing he can do stunts, too, because that ability comes in mighty handy when the crooks run.

This is an action show. And when you consider this was a TV show, it's pretty amazing the stunts they do. Each episode usually features one movie stunt and then several more "real life" stunts as Colt ... Read More:

Universal Soldier - The Return [1999]

starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bill Goldberg, Heidi Schanz, Michael Jai White, Xander Berkeley
directed by: Mic Rodgers
June 06, 2005

A great all action movie with the great Van Damme and Big Bill (The Man) Goldberg, knocking the stuffing out of each other.
In my opinion, better than the original, the fighting never stops, and Goldberg has a bigger part in the film than the credits would suggest.
If you are a fan of either of these giants, then this is the movie for you.
Well worth watching!

DVD : Hamlet [1997]

Hamlet [1997]

starring: Kenneth Branagh, Julie Christie, Derek Jacobi, Kate Winslet, Riz Abbasi
directed by: Kenneth Branagh
October 20, 1997

This is a very well-directed film. The great joy of watching a Branagh-directed Shakespeare is the effort put into ensuring that the diction is as clear and natural as possible without losing the strength of the text. The cast is excellent, Derek Jacobi and Kate Winslet in particular; even cameos for which you would perhaps have doubts - such as Robin Williams, who impresses with his characterisation of Osric, and Billy Crystal as the gravedigger - work. Indeed, the repartee between Billy Crystal and Simon Russell-Beale in the graveyard scene is the funniest I have ever witnessed.

The colour and sets are spectacular, all filmed in 70mm, allowing for great richness and definition. Branagh says he wanted to escape the Gothic look of previous Hamlets, "away from the clichés of doublet ... Read More:

DVD : The Ruling Class [1972]

The Ruling Class [1972]

starring: Peter O'Toole, Alastair Sim, Arthur Lowe, Harry Andrews, Coral Browne
directed by: John Fortenberry, Peter Medak
June 25, 2001

The bad reviews on this page relate to the Momentum release and NOT the Criterion Release (Black cover with close-up of O'Toole). Unfortunately the bad reviews AND good reviews of certain films relate to the quality of the image and sound of a particular DVD release, whereas the reviews seem to get placed on ANY issue of a film. Multiple editions of films taken from different sources create this problem. The Criterion disc is the definitive full length film, although it is Region 1.

DVD : The Stone Tape [1972]

The Stone Tape [1972]

starring: Michael Bryant|Jane Asher|Iain Cuthbertson
directed by: Peter Sasdy
August 20, 2001

Simply put this film is worth a lot although I would not spend to much money finding out what its like try for example to loan it from a friend or perhaps rent it from Amazon. The story and direction are for the most decent however some scenes and the way in witch they are executed would leave a lot of people baffled and if like me you watched in wonder as most people shouted even when it was supposed to be a tender moment. One other thing I noticed was the name of the Electronics Company RYAN, and every now and then the main character would make a reference to him in an Irish accent very funny. Must be what BA does when they talk about Ryanair! Thanks for reading and enjoy the Stone SHOUTING tape. not bad perhaps a remake would not be a bad Idea but keep it simple and eliminate the shouting during normal ... Read More:
