The Shield is the best series that has been...
Having all the previous seasons on Disc I settled in for a weekend watching Season 5 and it was awesome...so why the 1 star...the one star is for Sony shafting us over the season finale.
We loyal fans (and pocket fillers of Sony)deserve better than this.
They have left us short on this one..

I am the kind of person who often goes through phases. One of these phases was to build a collection of the most popular anime films; the kind that film critics and fan-boys alike tend to rave endlessly about. Being immediately lost and bewidlered in the dizzying plot complications of Akira and Ghost in The Shell, I aimed to find an anime free from sci-fi convolution. Ninja Scroll seemed like a good alternative.

I came to expect visually dazzling animation as standard and Ninja Scroll did not dissapoint in this respect. Every severing blow of the katana, every full-fisted punch to the toothless face is choreographed in the most fluid, deft and brutal of motions. Needless to say that it is a violent film, the typical anime style only ... Read More:

The Great Debaters [2007] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Michael Deak, John Heard, Damien Leake, Gregory Nicotero, Brian Smiar
May 13, 2008

I personally think this is the absolute best of Denzel. Saw the characters and story line on Oprah and decided to buy it. The Characters were accurate, the acting superb. So brilliant I watched it with my 11 year old daughter to teach her to overcome in the face of adversity. Watched it 3 times since and will watch it again as I always get something new to raise the children with. We do what we have to do so we can do what we want to do'! watch it.

The majority of this film is a good one- Hanks can usually be relied upon to turn in a good performance and here he turns in a compelling one, managing to convey palpable emotion with very few words. Towards the latter end of the film the sense of suspense and heartbreak leaves you on the edge of your seat, but all expectations are let down by the ending. The fact that it wasn't the ending most would have been hoping for isn't really what bothered me; it was the way in which what had been a very touching and genuine film suddenly became incredibly sickly-sweet in one scene which seemed to badly paraphrase a Hank's speech in 'Sleepless in Seattle'. The moment was utterly ruined for me.

il give this box set five stars purely for the first two installments of the species quadrilogy but the third and fourth despite carrying on from where the first two left off seem to be mediocre in comparison to those that made natasha henstridge a star in the making.

OK...I'm not going to spend too much time reviewing the actual film itself - I'm sure you all know what this is about and any real fan would have probably bought the bog standard version already. No, what you probably want to know is what this "Special Edition" contains and if it is worth swapping your other version for. Well in a word....NO.

Don't get me wrong, if you really want this film then THIS is the version to buy, make no mistake, but if you already own the basic release of this film then my advice would be to stick with what you've got.

This "all singing all dancing" version does contian two audio commentaries (One from actors Natasha Henstridge and Michael Madsen with director Roger Donaldson and another from director Roger Donaldson, ... Read More:

The idea behind the plot is good, but as most of the concept is borrowed from Alien, and Giger obviously didn't work too hard on an original idea, it makes it to the end of the train journey before you spot the cliches, and the blatent copying. Which covers the first twenty minutes.

Woefully miscast, with Marg Helgenberger essentially doing what she now does in CSI, Alfred Molina seriously out of place, and Forest Whitaker being ignored most of the time, when you can see he's right.

Since the entire plot consists of the foursome trying to track the alien, getting picked off one by one and eventually burning it, not forgetting the unnoticed baby with the reptilian tongue, its a small wonder that this one was allowed to escape the storyboard, where ... Read More:
