Angels One Five is one of the most accurate films ever made about the Battle of Britain. The depiction of a strong and self-confident England, centre of a world enbracing Empire; reluctant but determined to save the world, seems almost a parody now. Later films, although blessed with unlimited budgets, incredible special effects and even computer generated imaging; have so far been unable to recreate the tribal atmosphere that was the backbone of 1940's England. The calibre of the public schoolboy pilots, their emphasis on self control, duty and team spirit, can all be seen in this film as they were at that time. This authentic portrayal is due in no small part to the director George More O'Ferrall having served at Fighter Command HQ, with many ... Read More:

in all six of the seasons i will have to say that this has to be the best season of the show as there are no duds whatsoever...while season three went darker and had an arc it didn't seem to match the standard of this season...season five comes close to this but for me season two is my favourite season of the series.
eppy reviews-
Orphan of War-5/5
Remember Nothing*-5/5-a classic 'What If' episode.
The Giant Killer-4/5
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun-5/5-Xena in the tone of Buffy...its vampires galore!!!
Return of Callisto***-5/5-the single most greatest episode of the show...EVER!!!it has everything from script to stunt sequences and it added to the power and theme of the show...and with many many great episodes this ... Read More:

Cheaply made, looking as though it has been cobbled together at a moments notice, with forgettable songs, and equality forgettable musical numbers, one might be tempted to discount Patience Zero is an irrelevance, a bad movie. However, if one reads between the lines, there's an amazing amount of quite profound information in this film as arty Canadian filmmaker, John Greyson examines a particularly forceful urban myth about the origin of Aids in North America.

Made in 1993 and now finally released on DVD, there is much about Patience Zero that seems dated. HIV drugs are now widely available in the U.S, people are longer dropping dead from AIDS, and the debilitating diseases that come with AIDS are largely a thing of the past. But although ... Read More:

DVD : Hello Dolly [1969]

Hello Dolly [1969]

starring: Barbra Streisand, Walter Matthau, Michael Crawford, Marianne McAndrew, Danny Lockin
directed by: Gene Kelly
May 20, 2002

I have a good friend who despairs at my love of Barbra movies but he fell in love with this movie on it's first viewing and it isn't hard to see the charm in this feel-good musical. Barbra shines as Dolly Levi who takes it upon herself to sort out everyone's love life while bagging the well know half-a-millionaire horace Vandergelder, played fantastically by Walter Matthau. This film is truly feel good, nothing bad happens at all though it teeters on the brink. The first time I saw it I was waiting for Dolly's tales of how well known she is to fall apart and yet they never do. When she appears in that gorgeous dress as the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant and launches into the title song the tears spring to my eyes. That is one thing that makes this film so ... Read More:

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - Season One (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Kevin Sorbo, Michael Hurst, Kevin Smith, Robert Trebor, Jeffrey Thomas
directed by: Adam Nimoy, Bill L. Norton, David Grossman, Doug Lefler, Harley Cokeliss
June 24, 2003

'Hercules: The Legendary Journeys' is a TV-series that is nowadays often frowned upon or criticised for its clunky SFX, cheesy dialogue and general camp. But I can't help but love it, and I think I'm one of the few fans who prefers this series over its massively more popular spin-off, 'Xena: Warrior Princess', any day. So as soon as I got my hands on a DVD-player that could play Region 1, I also got my hands on this box set, which is vastly superior to its Region 2 counterparts in many ways.

The 5 TV-movies mark the beginning of our hero's journey and also introduce us to the main characters, including Hercules' best friend and partner, Iolaus, his mother, Alcmene, his (future) wife Deianeira and, of course, his almighty father Zeus.
I especially ... Read More:
