This is the brilliant film about being the best pilots, silly nicknames, and cheesy one liners! ( I feel the need, the need, for speed!) Brillant 'dog fighting' action scenes, and a great soundtrack, Not to be missed!

When I first saw this I thought the film was pretty silly, but now that I've seen it again I see why it's a true cult classic! Paul Verhoeven of Basic Instinct fame has a strange sense of humour. I love the fact that the film is set mainly in Buenos Aires, and the casting for this movie is perfect. All the actors are "robot-like" in appearance, like they've all had facelifts (they probably have). If you're tired and want a bit of mindless fun, this movie will do the trick.

There was one problem with this film...Christian Bale is A MACHINE! I was so consumed by the torture he must have gone through to lose the weight for this film, I wasn't concentrating on the plot at all. I remember I enjoyed it though, but I know that's not very helpful for a review (!).

This is a huge let down. As the bad guy, Michael Ironside does a pretty good job but the movie is such a stinker it floats in the water. Avoid.

I liked this film so much I bought the belt buckle but ended up getting unexpected attention in the trouser department from people misunderstanding the message. I recommend going out one night with a Free Willy belt buckle if anyone is a bit quiet or single. I've hung up my buckle for now as I am happily coupled.
Anyway, this film is another load of fishy business. This story centres around a big killer pandafish stuck in a performing pool and a little toerag called Jesse. They get friendly with each other and then the schmaltz kicks in big time. Because the fish isn't too good at jumping out of the water and nodding for fish like irritating dolphin fish do, the owners decide to blow the willy the fish up claiming back on insurance.
Apart from the terminator this is big Arnie at his baddy bashing best. This film, Black Book and Basic Instinct also remind us that Showgirls was a temporary blip in Paul Verhoevens impressive directorial c.v. The thundering introduction theme the violence, the special effects, crazy Michael Ironside running about trying to waste the big man. Added to which we have a high kicking Sharon Stone and Ronny Cox as the slimeball villain. Great Sci Fi movi. Eat your heart out Sylvestor Stallone. Buy this DVD.

Do you have Starship Troopers on DVD? Dont bother with this set.
Do you have Starship Troopers 2 on DVD? Sell it.
Do you have Starship Troopers 3 on DVD? May be worth getting the boxset so you have ST1.
There. Done.
OK, I watched this eventually. The first film is still the best and I finally replaced my old flipper DVD (remember those!?). The second film is just an excuse for a gore fest. Loads of cutting heads off and blood by the bucketload. It's a poor movie though and the end is just nonsense. I mean, lets have a think about what I would do...get in the ship and go home or die? Hmmm, tricky one. Sound and picture are just average, it looks like the time and effort that went into the BluRay was what the film deserved.
