TRUE ROMANCE is a very good film. It's brutal and funny and has an excellent cast - that is with one exception: Christian Slater is a total miscast in the lead role. Otherwise it's got brilliantly staged action scenes (I like it when the pimp gets it). Finally released in its UNRATED version in the UK (rather than the cut R Rated as on VHS).

The Mighty Ducks trilogy is without a doubt the best sports trilogy of all time. A real happy, funny, feel-good, movie for all the family, young and old.

This movie introduced me to the world of ice hockey at a young age, and inspired me to give it a go.

Youll love it. Guarenteed.

Yes, it's low budget. Yes, the sets wobble. Yes, the costumes are naff. But Blake's 7 has that certain 'something' that makes it special and something to be cherished. The first of the four seasons isn't the best, but it does have a freshness and harder edge that gradually diminished as the show went on. What makes this show so watchable are it's characters who are wonderfully brought to life by some excellent actors. The Blake's 7 universe is a very dark and pessimistic one, the total opposite of Star Trek, an Orwellian 1984 scenario in space with the heroic Blake and his crew bravely fighting against overwhelming odds. The first episode, The Way Back is one of the finest episodes of the entire series and one of the most adult too (Blake being convicted ... Read More:

Blake's 7 moves up a notch with the excellent second series which contains some superb and very dramatic episodes. The second half of the season contains a continuing theme which is the search for Star One abd the characters continue to develop, with Blake becoming more obsessive and driven, and Avon starting to play a more prominent role. Brain Croucher takes over the role of baddy Travis and is unfortunately the weak link in this series, being not a patch on Stephen Greif's menacing portrayal, but Jacqueline Pearce has much more to do as ice queen Servalan and is a joy to watch. The stand out episodes here are the drug-themed Shadow, Pressure Point in which a key character is killed, Trial and the season finale Star One, which is possibly the greatest episode ... Read More:

A lot has been said about Quentin over the years - and a lot of it - although might be true, a lot of it is nonsense. It's a love/hate relationship people usually have with his work, and before Jackie Brown, I hated his work. Reservoir Dogs was just too gorey for me to enjoy; so when Jackie Brown came out, it didn't interest me at all.

Ten years on and I've finally made a move to watch it - what was I thinking 10 years ago! The flair, cinematography, the atmosphere Quentin builds here is amazing, actually I would go as far as to say this movie really does eclipse everything else he's ever done.

Jackie's a stewardess for a small carrier, and she happens to be friends with Ordell Robbie - a small time gun dealer in Compton, who, if you get on his ... Read More:

DVD : Scrooge

Scrooge

starring: Albert Finney, Alec Guinness, Edith Evans, Kenneth More, Laurence Naismith
directed by: Ronald Neame
November 22, 2004

After watching the dreadfully earnest 1984 George C Scott 'A Christmas Carol' (where only Liz Smith in the tiny role of Mrs. Dilber captured the spirit) it was a joy to go back to 1970 when they still knew how to do these things. Apart from anything else, Dickens' story is a tumult of energy and unrestrained joy, adjective piled on adjective - 'going over the top' is simply not a concept that applies here, and the Director understands this completely. The film with its magic, colour and exuberance provides the perfect visual metaphor for Dickens' glittering prose and all here serves the one purpose - Art Direction, individual performances and choreographed crowd scenes coalesce to provide the Victorian Christmas of our dreams.
Albert Finney leads from the front: he understands ... Read More:

I remember watching this film when it came out, and was absorbed by the suspense and surprise, yet random 'deaths' that occurred throughout. In typical fashion, I lent it off a mate at school, who I'm sure we all knew one, had dad who was a bit dodgy... and had the pirate copy on VHS. It was a big talking point, and we all laughed over various parts of the film.

Unfortunately, I personally don't think the film is half as good second time round. I'm sure it's not just me now that i'm older, but it seemed the more I tried to take it all in, the less convincing it all is. Sammy L Jacksons grand killing scene is only good enough for a snigger, whereas I remember my mum jumping out of her skin originally. Even the CGI hasn't aged well, leaving the sharks roaming around like un ... Read More:

This movie has been out a while now and has failed to interest me until now, probably because of Tom Green.

While not his biggest fan out there, probably far from it, i thought id give it a go and see what all the fuss was about.

Can i say that im glad i watched it? Yes i can, but not bceause its a "Saving Private Ryan" of comedy, but because i can now say i dont need to see it again in any rush.

Ok its not bad, it has some amazingly funny moments in it, but it frustrates me that the film is purely built around funny gags. The story takes a back seat and waits for the gag to finish before moving on.

But there are those who will argue that the film reflects Gords mind, a disjointed muddle of amazing comedy and insanity. If you think that ... Read More:

DVD : Michael Jackson - Moonwalker [1988]

Michael Jackson - Moonwalker [1988]

starring: Michael Jackson, Sean Lennon, Joe Pesci, Brandon Adams, Kelly Parker
June 19, 2006

It is almost inaccurate to call this DVD a single movie. 'Moonwalker' is more like a collection a mini-movies and watching it is a journey. You can never be sure what will come up next.

The dvd begins with fabulous performances of 'Man in the Mirror' from Michael, filmed live in two different locations and teamed with a picture montage of famous do-gooders. From here we are treated to clips from Michael's career and a re-enactment of the 'Bad' video by children.
My favourite part of the movie comes up next though, where various claymation fans pursue Michael through Hollywood studios and he transforms into a rabbit. 'Speed demon' kicks in and later Michael and the rabbit have a dance duel.
The award winning and fascinating music video for 'Leave me alone' begins after this ... Read More:

There's never been a better time to get re-aquainted with Michael's music. This is great! 10 videos that are timeless! The sound and picture quality (except the picture on the way you make me feel) is incredible. The sound is 5.1 dolby sorround, it's crystal clear and you can hear a pin drop. Whether you watch it on a sorround sound system or a normal TV it's superb quality.

THE VIDEOS

1 Billie Jean
2 The way you make me feel Uncut rare version. The picture quality is grainy - like an old VHS. Not sure why this is as the rest of the videos are great quality.
3 Black or white - uncut version including panther scene. This includes the racist writing on cars and buildings that Michael smashes up. In the TV version the writing was removed making it look like Michael was ... Read More:
