As you can tell from the other people's reviews this movie is brilliant!! But what is not said (at least I don't think so! I didd'nt read all 100+ reviews!) is the picture quality! i'm using a Toshiba 47" 1080i LCD HDTV with a PlayStation3 with HDMI connection.
For a DVD it's got AMAZING detail! I'm surprised they managed to fit this 3 hour film with this quality onto a DVD!! I have a collection of around 500 DVDs & this must be in the top 5 of best picture quality in my selection!
Buy it! you won't regret it! (or wait for the Blu-ray)

Finally! The first Costner film that you can sit and watch with real pleasure for far too long.
Boss Freeman (Duvall) and Charley Waite (Costner) are Freegrazers (a kind of gypsy cowboy with no ranch) travelling with their herd and companions through the majestic scenery of the Wild West.
What follows has been seen many times before but rarely carried off with such aplomb. Duvall is, as usual, superb and Costner plays the taciturn cowpoke with a violent past much better than Eastwood managed in 'Unforgiven'. Gambon invests the evil town `guvnor' with just the right amount of ham and menace and Bening is in fine fettle as the love interest.
The film builds up the tension slowly, helped by a haunting score, before ... Read More:

Let me start by saying that this is not a DVD, its a soundtrack CD.
I have been a fan of Zimmer's work since The Lion King and he hasn't failed to deliver the goods with Drop Zone. Every track takes me back into the action of the movie especially the 10 minutes of 'Too Many Notes - Not Enough Rests' being placed as a backdrop to the final full on action scene in the movie.
Zimmer's work as a composer on this album is nothing below par, You feel every note and mood created by it. A full on action soundtrack from start to finish

The film is 5 stars all the way but I am only reviewing the 3D stereoscopic quality of this Blu-ray release, I wanted to let people know that the 3D Red/Cyan anaglyph works very well on my HD lcd screen, and was a good 3D experience, but for shear quality of 3D stereoscopic effect also get Journey to the Centre of the Earth in 3D as it uses the new Green/Purple anaglyph glasses and was nearly as good as seeing the film in 3D at the cinema. If I was to give marks out of 10 for the 3D only I would Give PE 7 and JTTCOTE 9.5.

A film dealing with one of life's great problems - death. Clint fills the part of a reporter perfectly, juggling a troubled personal life with a moral, very public issue. I'm sure this film will provide a moral dilemma for many years to come.

The Lost World:Jurassic Park, I'm sorry to say, made me lose interest in the franchise. This film, however, restores the film series to its best. Alan Grant, the hero of the original, is now a more bitter character who is tricked into going to an island where the genetically-bred dinosaurs are roaming. This film barely has a dull moment. The Spinosaurus is a terrifying creation and the scene in the crashed aeroplane is easily an all-time great dinosaur movie moment. With its real, sympathic characters and its brilliant and tense dinosaur scenes, this is a gem.

Although "The Gift" is slow paced for at least an hour, it started to pick up momentum in the remaining time. A few suspicious characters drew your attention to the movie. A few of the sequences are quite terrifying to watch, with the constant hullanctions of the the main characters a psychic Annie played wonderfully by (Cate Blanchett).
The Gift is catergorised as a super-natural movie which is cleverly crafted. It is about how pychic power can generate unlikely results in a police investigation surrounding the murder case of a rich and beautiful girl (Katie Holmes). Everyone is a key suspect and a bit really like a game of cluedo. It is set in Southern state, with the distinctive accent. The locations choosen perfectly blend with the plot, as you have ... The family (mum, dad, daughter 10, son 8) saw this at the cinema and really enjoyed it. Its works well on the small screen as well and has quite a serious storyline, although to be honest the kids have only watched it a few times, so perhaps try renting as well - they prefered to watch their many hours of TV Wild Thornberry episodes on video instead, as there is far more variety (and even I enjoy watching them). However this is a very successful movie translation with a strong conservationist story. It's not unlike Tarzan really with it's England public school sequences. Your children would probably appreciate the film more if they are familiar with the TV series (but then they will have probably seen it already). Unfortunately the TV series isn't being screened at the moment. I ... Read More:
