Having watched the first three series, I would say that this one is my favourite and series 2 is my least favourite (although still worthy of five stars). Having said that, without a lot of important build up in series 2, especially within the Barksdale empire, series 3 couldn't have had the same impact. On a general note, and this applies to all the series, the viewing experience is extraordinary and I think a lot of that is down to the fact that we've been blessed with so many hours with these characters. A particular standout scene for me was when McNulty confronts D'Angelo's mother. Amazing acting, with the emotional force that only plot markers planted long before can create. Just watched the first 3 episodes of series 4, and if it stays ... Read More:

Quite simply the finest drama I have ever seen, I thought series 3 could not get any better but the writers/cast proved me wrong. If I could give it six stars I would. I have never felt so involved in a series before, my only complaint is I watched it too quickly.

I went to see this film on the strength of a recommendation by Christopher Tookey in the Mail, who gave it a rare five stars. However, I was disappointed. The dialogue was extremely difficult to catch, and I found the plot wildly implausible. The mother of the kidnapped child may have been unfit to be a parent, but would the female detective really have allowed her dislike to become so personal and obvious? The acting talent of most of the stars seemed to be wasted on wordy, over long scenes of dialogue, while the convoluted plot lost me totally.

Doing Hard Time [2004] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Boris Kodjoe, Michael K. Williams, Sticky Fingaz, Reagan Gomez-Preston, Jazsmin Lewis
directed by: Preston A. Whitmore II
November 23, 2004

If you saw Lockdown and liked it, then you'll enjoy this.

Boris Kodjoe plays a father who's son gets killed in a drive-by shooting. Feeling like he has nothing to live for, he hunts down the men involved in the death of his son and gets himself incacerated in the same jail as them, as a plot for revenge.

Very moving story, and acted so well by Kodjoe. The ending is also food for thought.

Not bad. Not outstanding either. Easy watching if you just want to switch-on and zog-out for an hour and a bit.

Engaging but not THAT gripping.

Alright.

When i got this i imagined it would be in league with Alien or even better...i was so wrong. In fact, it's not if in league with the tweenies. Species is diguised as a beutiful women, who basically befriends and sleeps with men so that she can kill them. The fact is, she only turns into the species alien monster thingy once in a blue moon, which really makes this film rather boring to watch, even if your a hardcore monster horror fan. The sequels are all just as bad. After the first 20 minutes i began to wonder why i'd even bothered with it. The effects are good, but that's not what counts. So please, denay yourself from this trash.
