A highly enjoyable black comedy based upon the board game Cluedo. For some reason the Americans call this game "Clue", include a "Wrench" instead of a "Spanner" amongst the murder weapons, and refer to the principal victim as "Mr Boddy" rather than "Dr Black".
Set in 1954, six prominent Washington D.C Citizens are invited for a weekend at an isolated country manor. All these people have in common, as they are to discover, is that they are being blackmailed for different reasons by person or persons unknown.
The film starts with "Wadsworth" the butler entering the manor and accidentally treading in mess made by the guard dogs outside. It is never made clear whether Wadsworth belongs to the house or who actually owns it. The Cook ... Read More:

If you read my review for the original Short Circuit, you'll note my memories for what is, a wonderful film. The story with this? Yet another ex-rental buy from Blockbuster! My mum knew just how much I loved the first, and once she saw this sequel in the pile of old videos, I was home to a welcome suprise.. and a dohnut!
Did this sequel live up to the first? In many ways, yes, and in a few others... no. But firstly, whats Johnny 5 up to? Well, after his escape at the end of the first film, he makes his way into the city via an obviously large package, to his original creators. The group bond, and we see J-5's rather humerous encounters as he makes his way through the different aspects of city life - much different to his quiet life hide-out in the ... Read More:

I am sorry but if you dont enjoy this film you must have had a sense of humour bypass operation when you were younger. The cast is great, the story superb and the music excellent. A film you will keep coming back to when you need to put a smile on your face!!

The fact that you can now buy Waiting For Guffman on Region 2 DVD should be enough to make you part with your cash. Having Best In Show and A Mighty Wind included in the box-set as well, and being able to get all three for under twelve quid, makes this a no-brainer. I paid fifteen quid to import the Region 1 version of WFG from Canada four years ago, when I realised you couldn't get it on Region 2 at the time.
All Chris Guest films follow a similar theme - a documentary style first introduced in This Is Spinal Tap, concentrating on a group of people who all feel very passionate about the subject of the movie. In this case, we have an amateur dramatics scenario, where residents of the Missourri town of Blaine are putting on a show to illustrate Blaine's history ... Read More:

A film dealing with one of life's great problems - death. Clint fills the part of a reporter perfectly, juggling a troubled personal life with a moral, very public issue. I'm sure this film will provide a moral dilemma for many years to come.

Unfortunately, not many people have heard about this quirky little comedy, which caught me up by surprise one winter day, way back in January 2003. For me, I fell in love with the film both for sentimental reasons as well as objective ones. The Guru is an innocent romantic comedy, a film that's totally aware of itself yet at the time extremely and naively charming. Better than that, it fills its viewers with pure energy and makes you want to dance, love and marry your partner - not particularly in that order.
The plot follows Ramu Guptha, an aspiring young Indian actor who moves to Manhattan, New York, in order to live out the American dream. Ramu, portrayed marvelously by British actor Jimmy Mistry, is filled with passion for music and dance, and dreams ... Read More:

No words can describe this abomination of a "sequel" to the original, brilliant Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hell I can't believe most of the original cast even signed up for this thing! The animation is horrid, the story is ridiculous, the songs are forgettable and the new villain is...ugh, REALLY boring compared to Frollo! I don't like Madeleine much either.
I think only young kids will like this one. Adults and older kids (like myself?) ...Not so much. I recommend you stay away from this. Far away.

"Nothing to Loose" is another addition to the run of odd-couple/buddy buddy comedy movies of which there are so many examples, yet for all that it does work surprisingly well and comes over as a most entertaining and watchable film.
Perhaps it's the fact that the two lead actors aren't the sort you'd expect to find in such a film. Tim Robbins is better known for his more serious roles in such films as "The Shawshank Redemption" or "Arlington Road" and yet here he plays Nick Beam, a faceless advertising executive who is spurred into unexpected action when he discovers his wife having an affair with his boss. Playing opposite Robbins is Martin Lawrence, who no doubt spends his entire acting career being mistaken for Will Smith, Wesley Snipes or Denzil Washington. In fact ... Read More:
