Amazon's review is simply wrong... This movie is one of my favourite ever comedies, with Steve Martin and John Candy at their finest. The movie never gets boring, the comedy is continuous. There are parts of this movie which make make me cry with laughter no matter how many times I watch them. I highly recommend this movie to anyone, there is some strong language in it so I wouldn't recommend it as a family movie. >>More Details

A highly enjoyable black comedy based upon the board game Cluedo. For some reason the Americans call this game "Clue", include a "Wrench" instead of a "Spanner" amongst the murder weapons, and refer to the principal victim as "Mr Boddy" rather than "Dr Black". Set in 1954, six prominent Washington D.C Citizens are invited for a weekend at an isolated country manor. All these people have in common, as they are to discover, is that they are being blackmailed for different reasons by person or persons unknown. The film starts with "Wadsworth" the butler entering the manor and accidentally treading in mess made by the guard dogs outside. If you read my review for the original Short Circuit, you'll note my memories for what is, a wonderful film. The story with this? Yet another ex-rental buy from Blockbuster! The fact that you can now buy Waiting For Guffman on Region 2 DVD should be enough to make you part with your cash. Having Best In Show and A Mighty Wind included in the box-set as well, and being able to get all three for under twelve quid, makes this a no-brainer. I paid fifteen quid to import the Region 1 version of WFG from Canada four years ago, when I realised you couldn't get it on Region 2 at the time. All Chris Guest films follow a similar theme - a documentary style first introduced in This Is Spinal Tap, concentrating on a group of people who all feel very passionate about the subject of the movie. Unfortunately, not many people have heard about this quirky little comedy, which caught me up by surprise one winter day, way back in January 2003. For me, I fell in love with the film both for sentimental reasons as well as objective ones. No words can describe this abomination of a "sequel" to the original, brilliant Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hell I can't believe most of the original cast even signed up for this thing! The animation is horrid, the story is ridiculous, the songs are forgettable and the new villain is...ugh, REALLY boring compared to Frollo! I don't like Madeleine much either. "Nothing to Loose" is another addition to the run of odd-couple/buddy buddy comedy movies of which there are so many examples, yet for all that it does work surprisingly well and comes over as a most entertaining and watchable film. Perhaps it's the fact that the two lead actors aren't the sort you'd expect to find in such a film. Tim Robbins is better known for his more serious roles in such films as "The Shawshank Redemption" or "Arlington Road" and yet here he plays Nick Beam, a faceless advertising executive who is spurred into unexpected action when he discovers his wife having an affair with his boss.
