The legendary Monty Python films will forever be funny. The insults, the sayings and the pure stupidity of the characters of the 6 will forever have a place in comic history.

Monty Python is so famous and its sketches are so well known that I almost wonder if there's any point in ANYONE writing a review. But although they were possibly the greatest comedy team in history and Graham Chapman's genius was equalled only by Spike Milligan, (may they both rest in peace,) the best thing about these DVD's is that they allow you to skip past the rubbish.
After the response that I received for my BTVS review, I'm already strapping on my safety helmet, preparing for the hoards of hardcore `Pythonists' who will accuse me of heresy and of drawing the wrong conclusions.
"When two or more are gathered in his name, they shall perform the Dead Parrot Sketch."
Well, what can I say except the has to be the greatest and funniest comedy film of all time. This is an out and out masterpeice and this film will live on for centuries. Right from the opening shots I was laughing my head off.
Back in the day, the christian church was up in arms at this successful attempt at poking fun at the life of Jesus and on religion in general. They banned in cinema's in the UK and the USA ... which, to be honest, only added to its marketability. the controversey the church created; help the films popularity and widened its appeal.

"Some day lad, all this will be yours"
"what, the curtains?"
Despite the low production and the cheap feel throughout this movie, this comedy from the Monty Python boys is fantastic and extremely funny. From beginning to end you will find some of Monty Pythons best work within this movie. This finds great humour in all aspects of medievil life. 'Wonderfully Bizarre' is another phrase id have for it.
The movie isnt as well produced and written as the classic 'Life of Brian' but if you can put that to the baxck of your mind, you will find this equally funny but mainly for the shere crazyness of it. The Holy Grail is more a collection of sketches loosely linking together a simple story about King Arthur's mythical quest.

As none of the precedent reviews actually refer to the product itself, I feel impelled to indicate that this is the greatest boxset ever released. The T-Shirt is in L-size and shout fit to most people. Mine is yellow and has the quotation "My Brain Hurtz" on its front. The lifeless parrot is made of inflatable PVC. The bonus material is overwhelming - no need to mention the quality of the movies and series. This really contains everything ever done by Monty Python, in best quality. 55£ is a fair price for 16 DVDs full of art and humor that never palls. Buy this, you won't regret it.

I have to say that many of my friends thought this would be a waste of money..... a 30 year old film wouldn't be worth buying on Blu-Ray if you had the DVD. WRONG! This was so much better than I expected, the grafitti scene alone was stunning, you could see every instance! If you are a fan..... invest or be a very naughty boy!

Fans of Gilliam will find much to keep them happy here. There's nightmarish, dystopian imagery in spades, dream sequences are lavish and the finale is really quite masterful.
The problem however, lies in the rest of the film. The humour kept me interested for about the first 30-45 minutes, after which it starts to wear a little thin. The same can be said about the plot - it starts out snappily enough but becomes seemingly endless in the latter half of the film. Logical ending points give rise to yet further story development and at over 2 hours in length, it became quite a slog to get through. Lastly, the characterisation just didn't work for me. Not sure if it was the acting, the script, or both but I didn't care too much for any of the characters, ... Read More:

I'm not usually moved to write review on amazon, but after watching this documentary for the first time since it was originally broadcast, and thoroughly enjoying every second of it, I feel I should also put down my thoughts.
There are a number of factors that go into making this travelogue so eminently watchable. There is the genial, witty persona of Michael Palin which comes through strongly on the narration; the different characters he meets on his travels (watch out for the Indian chap on the dhow bopping along to Bruce Springsteen!); the race against time element (judicious editing means that despite 80 days covered in 7 episodes, you get a real feel for the clock ticking away against him). All these aspects come together to give the viewer and engrossing, ... Read More:
