First off, since I was one of the first to note it, yes it is annoying that this is only half of Season 4 (10 episodes + the Razor TV movie) and that it was being sold for only a few pounds cheaper than the full 20-episode sets of Seasons 2-3. However, given the discount prices it is now available at and the fact that Season 1 (13 episodes) also suffers from this, it's probably not worth getting too upset about it. I suspect the DVD company really wanted episode 410, 'Revelations', as a cliffhanger given its impact and it has to be said it is quite effective. Also, the DVD company has confirmed there will be no 'complete' Season 4 set. The last 10 episodes (and the Plan TV movie) will be released as a seperate set, probably called 'Season 5' ... Almost finished series 3. 3 episodes to go but I'm really losing the will to live.
For me they've broken the 1st commandment of entertainment: Dont be boring. The major plot: Galactica and co are trying to find Earth whilst being chased by the Cylons. The sub plot: Baltar and No.6 Everything else: Sub-sub plots. How much time is spent on the major plot line? about 20 mins. How much time is spent on the sub plot? 10 mins? About 20 episodes take up the completely boring sub-sub plots. Do we need 3 weeks of Apollo fancies Starbuck? If people want to watch marriage breakdowns and adulterous affairs they can watch Eastenders can't they? I dont watch BSG for that! Everything that's ... Read More: >>More Details |

As mentioned above, the show rocks. Edward James Olmos again excelled as Adama. And so did Michelle Forbes as Admiral Cain. But even though the show is delivered via DVD, I could'nt help thinking it looks and feel as if I'm watching VCD. So my rating is based on the show(content) alone and not on the video quality(DVD).

Broadcast on the BBC in their WS = 16.9 version, it seemed that they were cut, which is something that QT (Quentin Tarantino) has never previousaly done, also whereas the 1st use of the C word is cut from KB 2 it's 2nd use is not, so I purchased this box set before Xmas 2008 & when I compared KB 1 with the BBC version I noticed that the WS version had been cropped (by *28.5%) to LB = 16.7.

Strange how many people find a short condemnation of something unhelpul.
Both my wife and I agreed that this was the most tedious film we have ever watched through to the finish. Much of the dialogue needed to be read in subtitles. The pace was deadly slow. This was a case where real life produced a wholly unattractive set of characters doing awful things. How ironic that the murder of a brutal thug should be followed by universal condemnation of his killer who in turn was murdered by someone susequently granted a pardon! Historic curiousity attracted me to the film. I should have stuck to Wickpedia. >>More Details |

I had no idea what this film was about when I started watching it, and was drawn in quickly by the tale of the violent and charismatic Clooney and the even more violent but decidedly less uncharismatic Tarantino as they make an unholy mess and escaped to Mexico. The family led by Keitel gets caught up in the criminals plans and the tension is really well done. Unlike another reviewer here, I really did sympathise with the position of the family and was genuinely hooked on what was going to happen to them all.
Sadly, the film for me ended up degenerating into the usual melange of gaudy visuals, one-speed pacing and bludgeoning pop-video action. Such a waste. Much is made of the factual inaccuracies of this story. In fact if you have the good fortune to read the excellent book JOLIE -THE STORY OF AL JOLSEN by Michael Freedland, the truth is not as far away as you may think. First of all the man had to have an ego do what he was doing, cope with the fame and up to a point survive. He had certain character traits that others had, a temper, meanness followed by generosity and so on that were minimised and ignored for the most part by the film. You can only tell so much of a story and maintain the interest of the watcher. Personalities devolve in to composite characters and so on. Like for most mature vocalists, the music has to be several steps lower as the range changes with age. As with Sinatra and others this was a bonus and Jolsen's voice became richer and developed ...
