Desert Hearts [Region 2] [import]

starring: Donna Deitch, Helen Shaver, Patricia Charbonneau, Andra Akers, Dean Butler
November 10, 2006

It isn't hard to see why this is a classic amongst lesbians the world over. One of the first (if not the first?) to have a relatively happy ending for the couple and show a love scene between two women.
The story is passionate and realistic in the emotions of fear, longing, love and confusion that are felt by Cay and Vivian. Beautifully filmed with one of the best soundtracks ever - if you like (old) country music!
I can't sing enough praises and I've already watched it about 3/4times in the space of a couple of weeks.

Well, what can I say? This is in my all time top 5 WORST FILMS EVER list. I tell theeeeee, this is soooo poor that I nearly spooned my own eyes out!

Thanks to Blue Jean Cop I have lost 92 minutes of my life that I will never get back. I could have been throwing baked beans all over the lounge or parading in a nappy, but instead I was punishing myself with this insult to celluloid.

Give yourself a laugh and please watch it.

Braindead / Bad Taste / The Frighteners

starring: Bill Paxton, Peter Jackson, Craig Smith, Michael J. Fox, Trini Alvarado
directed by: Peter Jackson, Adam Simon
September 16, 2002

With the critical and commercial success of the "Lord of Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" one would think that director Peter Jackson's previous films would be getting a thorough push. Perhaps it could be argued that such films were so distinctly different from the family-targeted "Lord of the Rings" that few people would appreciate them.

"Bad Taste" was made on a zero budget and is Jackson's directorial debut. He also acts in it. This is strictly a cult movie and it is a shame that more people can't disengage their stomachs when watching it. There is an onslaught of gratuitous turn-your-head gore, but Jackson's not stop comic direction stops this from becoming a horror movie.
