Oh, how I agree with Anna-lena Berg! I really love David Suchet as Hercule Poirot, but the new series is not as good as I expected. Third Girl : David Baker should really be the bad guy - I was totally shocked that they changed the story. The same thing with Appointemnt with Death - very dissapointing. Mrs. MacGuinty is ok and Cat among the pidgeons too.

You would never think it from the title, but "The Jacket" is a time travel story. As such, it is a relatively low keyed one, and reminded me of episodes of television shows like "The Twilight Zone," "Quantum Leap," and even "Early Edition," for various reasons that should be apparent once you watch this 2005 film from director John Maybury ("Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon").
Jack Starks (Adrien Brody) is in the army during the first Gulf War when he takes a bullet to the brain. Jack should be dead, but he survives, although he has severe memory problems. Consequently, when he is charged with a murder he did not commit he ends up being sent to a mental hospital. There he becomes the patient of Dr. Thomas Becker (Kris ... Read More:

'Delovely' is an interesting portrait of Cole Porter and his wife, Linda, played out against a backdrop of Cole's songs from various musicals. The film is framed in a tryptych manner -- the first act is the Paris/Venice time; the second act takes place in New York; the third act in Hollywood. In between are minor scenes fleshing out the life of the Porters.
Cole Porter was born in the late 1800s, and came to prominence in the same post-war, roaring 20s ages that also saw people such as Irving Berlin and Noel Coward. He met the desirable and socially-connected divorcee Linda Taylor in Paris; their marriage seemed from the outside rather idyllic, but there was a secret. This was a marriage of love, to be sure, but not lust. Cole Porter was gay, not really ... Read More:

an interesting debut for British directors James Erskine & Danny McCullough. Made on a shoestring, the film is nevertheless technically accomplished. Acting is on the whole impressive, though let down by a few weak performances. The story follows Adam (Adam Leese in his debut): a geek caught up in a web of conspiracies. However as the plot unravels in a confusing and round-about way, the audience starts to realise - even if Adam doesn't - that the reality of his situation is actually worse than his paranoid ravings. One gets the feeling that this was a film made under 'indy' circumstances and could have benefited from a bit more preparation time and money. Nonetheless, for a small indy film, it punches above its weight and certainly leaves one hungry for more. Well ... Read More:
