This film is about seven old school friends who were stalked by an evil clown when they were kids. But thirty something years later the defeated monster comes back from god knows where to seek revenge. ThIs is where the story begins and the film becomes repetitive. You watch the crazy clown make seven personal and anti-social visits to each one of the characters, struck with terror each one of the seven characters thinks back thirty years to when they first saw the clown and how it could come back after so long, unfortunately the film takes you back with them to bore you with their boy scout childhoods. At this point it felt like i was watching a childrens adventure like the goonies not a horror film. And if that wasn't enough, you then get ... Read More:

I agree with everyone here this is one of my top films, one you always remember. I have not seen it in hi def only standard so the special effects would be superb i would imagine. This film for its time had really good affects and you were held on the edge of your seat. Its one of those films you could watch more than once.

One of the delights of DVD - even more than video - is that its insatiable desire for fresh product sees the resurrection of swathes of unloved would-be blockbusters that no self-respecting cinematheque would ever include in any retrospective and which would otherwise be left to rot in time-compressed panned-and-scanned graveyard slots on network TV just before the infomercials start. These aren't the forgotten or under-appreciated masterpieces awaiting rediscovery, but rather the misjudged, the misbegotten or the just plain mistimed, films before or after their time that never found their audience and, until the advent of DVD, would never have been given the chance.

Hanover Street fits into all those categories at once. Intended both as a throwback ... Read More:

Heaven's Gate

starring: Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Walken, John Hurt, Sam Waterston, Brad Dourif
directed by: Michael Cimino

No, it NOT accurate from a historical perspective but I don't believe it was ever the intention to be a history lesson. What it appears to be, and succeeds in doing completely, is a re-creation of a time, a place and a mood. In that respect it is almost flawless. This is a portal to a time gone by. The production design, photography and atmosphere are stunning. It the nearest you will ever get to being in the 19th century West. Without this there would be no Deadwoood. An achievement that many do not understand or appreciate. Stunning. But it. Rent it. See it.

This film is, how should one put it, an elegant and eloquent trifle, full of the verbal fripperies and embellishments that come with wealth and influence, but ultimately leaving an empty experience for all concerned. It's a tale of how easily a conman can take in people by adopting their mannerisms and lifestyle, to be come as it were "one of us." All you need is a little research, to be a skilled mimic and weave a spell with your words. Ah, but the rub is that the victims can then dine out for months on such a tale. To be self-deprecating in telling how you were deceived is to win over a fresh audience for the deception. So - a moral tale on how the mighty are never fallen for long!

This succeeds where many might have failed by virtue of a truly outstanding ... Read More:

This has some great action, a fantastic bit with a flare & a load of petrol, & some high quality ass kicking.

It also outlasts its welcome in some places but hey, it does 90% of what it says on the tin.

If you want your kids to cry themselves to sleep then this is a great movie... if not it sucks...
I watched this as a kid expecting a nice film, and cried so much i made myself sick.
you don't expect kids to die in anything other than documentaries or real life stories..
I don't recommended this movie unless you actually want to depress yourself.
