Great animation, characterization, sound, and imagery rule in "101 Dalmations." It's action, excitement and love, but with a dark theme that's a bit scary.

"The Time Machine" remains a timeless film although the special effects in this 50 year old film are now somewhat dated. Rod Taylor plays the time traveller who travels forward in time by tens of thousands of years to find humanity divided into two; living on the Earth's surface are the Eloi, a passive, stupid but beautiful people who are preyed upon by the subterranean cannibalistic Morlocks. The hideous Morlocks do all the work while the Eloi live lives of idle leisure.Clearly the film is making inferences about the class system on Earth in the current age, perhaps taking things to extremes to make a point. When I was younger I found the scenes where Taylor fought the Morlocks in their cave terrifying , but the passage of time has dimmed their impact ... I think the best thing about The Birds is that it is directed by Alfred Hitchcock, to me anything with his name fronting it is scary.
Tippi Hedren stars as an attractive woman who moves to a small town somewhere in the U.S. For no given reason 'the birds' start behaving wildly, pecking people's eyes out & doing all those things we know birds are capable of but don't expect them to do.
Amongst all this there is a blossoming romance between Hedren & Rod Taylor.
In contrast with most horror movies made in this era it is quite scary, there is more blood than most cinema goers of that decade would have been used to.
What I didn't like about the film was that there is no real reason for the birds acting so bizarrely; why all of ... Read More:

two incredibly brilliant masterpieces made by one of the most acclaimed and fantastic directors ever.
seriously these are gems of the horror genre so much that it evolves beyond that.
Psycho-10/10-a classic film that alone spawned the slasher genre...but it is so much more than that,it is beyond horror,it is a film focused on fear as the objective...and once you manage to get through the nail biting theme of the opening credits you will already become pushed to the edge...of your seat.
possibly one of my favourite films of all time and most definately the best film of the 1960s.
the shower scene is a classic and one of the most petrifying scenes in the history of the film.
visualy it is striking and enhances all your senses that brings ... Read More:

George Stevens' 3 hour sprawling epic of Texan life, taken from Edna Ferber's novel, strives so hard for serious statements that it ends up as a long yawn. Dealing with the two men who love Taylor - strait-laced cattle baron Hudson, and the less respectable rancher who strikes it rich with oil (James Dean, a strange spectacle in himself as he turns grey) - the film attempts to conduct some sort of attack on rampant materialism, as well as offering an elegy for the times that have a-changed.
But the pace is so plodding, and the general effect so stultifyingly unsubtle, that one is left impressed only by the fine landscape photography and Dean's surprisingly convincing portrayal of a middle-aged man- Jett Rink. Unlike Rebel Without a Cause and to ... Read More:

This might pass as porn in Saudi Arabia or somewhere but only just. Absolute rubbish, you have to be really, really sex-starved to be turned on by these films. Absolute waste of money and time!
