This film i initially felt would be acomplete flop as so many other "best since private ryan warfilms are", however it was unexpectedly good. On the first watching it seemed a little of the stereotypical warfilms. But i decided to give it another chance albeit when i was more in the mood. I was astonished, as in the case of saints and soldiers, how good this film is when you watch it attentivley. The battles are good and the looks on the seemingly amateur actors faces, particularly Yassir who shows fear so well, made it very good to feel how a soldier would almost panick stricken. It showed the human side to a war and strangely struck a chord with me, thinking what if me and my friends joined from the same village to fight a war, and many were ... Read More:

What we have here is an average attempt at manifesting one of the possible and likely threats of our time; Terrorism. To much of an extent, the film captures this perfectly, and we learn how such people operate, they're motives etc etc... However, the film fails in its layout - the way it keeps switching from Denzel and co's personal issue's and feelings to the job in hand leaves you feeling out-of-place.
It should also be noted that Bruce Willis and a helicopter with missile cannons don't mix, when it comes to realism. The result is borderline laughable as he struts about in his army uniform.
Though its been directed and presented well, a little more thought into making the plot real would have benefited the film. Taking ... Read More:

I have to agree with the positive comments made by the other reviewers. Its a frantic battle for survival for a rag tag bunch of petty thieves, french special forces and a few factory workers who fall under siege from a vicious Albanian criminal and his high tech forces. It's an enjoyable romp with elements of assault on precinct 13 and it's a nice change from the similar genre hollywood churns out by the dozen.

This film is a great illustration of why it made no difference if France fought or not in WW2.
Good quality in blu ray but that is all that was good about this movie.

Having known nothing about this film I took a chance and bought it secondhand because the box looked amusing, to be honest I wish I had bought it new for it was such a funny film that I know I will want to watch it over again. I love french films and am slowly building my collection. The thing I love about these types of movies is you can never get bored of them because there is always something going on which you can pick up again on another viewing. There is nothing bad about this production, the scenes are cleverly intertwined and the acting is superb, a would almost go as far as to say there is a laugh a minute!

Completely lacking in warmth and sensuality.Actors all seem uncomfortable in their bodies and with any scenes of intimacy. The worst gay film we've watched so far.Don't bother, theres far better.
