A man is found saying strange things in New York Central Station. The police are called, and although the man seems perfectly affable, he continues to fail to make sense, so they take him to a psychiatric hospital. The man, who calls himself Prot, claims to be visiting Earth. He has left his own planet K-Pax some time ago, and he will have to return there before long. The Chief Psychiatrist at the hospital meets with Prot, and is drawn to him. He conducts long interviews with this self-confessed `alien', convinced that he will be able to unravel whatever trauma has led his patient to construct this extraordinary fantasy world for himself. Prot is phased by nothing, calmly eating his way through an entire fruit-bowl in the course of a session. ... Read More:

This film has something for everything, Ation, Adventure, Romance and comedy. When i bought this DVD i wasnt actually sure what i was getting. I wanted it for two reasons: firstly, after seeing the music video for the Against all odds(take a look at me now) song by Phil Collins i decided to track the film behind the song down and watch it. the second reason is that im a fan of james woods, and after seeing him in Salvador, Once apon a time in america and John Q i wanted to see some of his other work. Un fortunately at that time i bought this DVD there was no picture or even discription of the film. luckily this is what i was hopeing it was. Against all odds is the story of an ex football player(Jeff bridges) who is hired by night club owner (james ... Read More:

This underrated, and very enjoyable political satire from 1999, stars young Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams as two not very bright teenagers who unwittingly get themselves involved in the Watergate affair. A fairly funny movie, my favorite scene must be the one where one of the girls reveal to the other the meaning behind the expression Deep Throat, but there are many other great scenes, like when the girls first stumble upon the White House tapes, and reveal to them a Nixon they didn't know. The ending, set alongside a Carly Simon's song, is also superb. What's great about this movie is the overall humor that was sorely missing in "All the President's Men" and "Nixon": in this film, Woodward and Bernstein are as much objects of ridicule as Nixon ... Wow. Just wow. A powerful movie, subtle and moving, for once treating the subject of inner-city African-American life with dignity and respect. It is shys away from the typical taudry 'guns and hos' trivialisation of ghetto life. The rhymes are amazing, the acting superb. Just one of the best films I have seen in a while.

While the storyline and characters are kept relatively simple, Tim Roth adds so much to Joey Larabino, you find yourself really getting into the mind of this character. Drawing a sense of justice out of the viewer is the best way to describe Roth's performance. Its very enjoyable to watch, and although you may find the development of Russo's character predictable, there is more than enough to keep you entertained here.

Senator Laine Hanson (Joan Allen) is selected as the nominee for Vice President after the incumbent's death.
But she is opposed by Congressman Runyon (Gary Oldman) who uses rumours of sexual hijinks in her past to smear her.
This film takes the moral high ground that a man would just laugh this off as one of the boys & portrays the resultant political skullduggery on both sides.
Ok so the end is a bit tub thumping & Jeff Bridges as the president doesn't do much apart from order food & the final scene.
But as the US President is kind of a god/king selected from amongest the people, then if you gave him anything more he'd end up dominating the entire film.
Which would mean that you wouldn't be able to appreciate the sterling ... Read More:
