There was some good acting in this film but the ridiculous story made it hard to enjoy. Also somebody withheld the suspense because I didn't feel on the edge of my seat. This film was I suspect, a bit like the book it was based on:it had a clever plot rather than a credible plot. For a much better kidnap film buy the movie "Ransom" with Mel Gibson and Rene Russo which is also set in New York. That has some great twists in the story and a much more believable story too and is way more exciting to watch.

This has to be without doubt the WORST film I have ever seen, and I am not exaggerating. I feel so strongly about it I had to write a review. That said, I suppose it might be interting to see just how bad films can be. Though on second thought, it's not worth it...I would sooner eat poo than watch this again. :)
The special effects are laughable, as is the acting. There is no suspense whatsoever. I sat with my head in my hands for most of it, through sheer bordom. And don't get me started on the extras!
The acting is also weak, and having also seen "The Last Sin Eater", which also had very bad performances, even by talented actors, I'm starting to suspect Michael Landon doesn't know how to get good performances out of his cast.
Recommended only for die-hard fans of sappy made-for-TV dramas.

A lot of the 'facts' that this mini-series tries to put across are inaccurate, and on a totally unrelated matter, the lead actress looks nothing like her character. As charming as Poppy Montgomery (from TV's "Without A Trace") is, she does not remotely resemble Marilyn Monroe. Also, the storytelling in this biopic seems frightfully rushed; and it seems at times that the film-makers were frantically trying to condense Miss Oates' book. However, the cast is very talented, and make a good job of it. Overall, 2/5. The production design is the real stand-out, however, especially the re-staging of the "Diamond's Are A Girl's Best Friend" number from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The song 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' sang at President Kennedy's birthday part is well done, ... Read More:
