It's such a shame that Fox look like they are about to cancel this show as It's the most compelling 45mins on U.S. tv. There's plenty of other reviews so just to note that the U.S. Blu-Ray is region free, and will play on U.K. PS3's and Blu-Ray players, and contains all the extras from the American release that are sadly absent from the U.K. discs. Here's hoping judgement day is put off for another few seasons.

This is a great sci-fi film. Think Indiana Jones in Space or What Han Solo's life would've been like before taking Luke and Obi-Wan on board. I agree that watching Firefly first is a must as you then get to know and care about all of the characters which only adds to the experience. It's very witty, clever, got great characters, and a good story. Give it a go. You'll love it!!

As much as fans eventually hated it, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines [Blu-ray] [2003] [US Import] is lights years ahead of this tedious show. I hired this and thought it would be so bad it was funny. No such luck it is terrible all the way through. The only redeeming feature is that Summer Glau is easy on the eye.

Serenity began a number of years ago as a TV series known as "Firefly". American TV station FOX in making one their most recognized stupidest decisions ever, canceled the series early. However, Firefly with its army of fans the world-over and the strong willed maker/creator Joss Whedon (of Buffy and Angel fame) fought the good fight and eventually won, with the eventual making of the Film Serenity. Through both, the TV series and the film, the term "Browncoat" alone came into being and our dictionaries but thats also another story.
The film itself quickly introduces the various characters (for those new to the whole world of Firefly) and this it does very well in the time constraints allocated to the total film length time. You cannot but love the characters. ... Read More:
