This plays like a third of the plot of L.A. Confidential - not surprising when you realise that it's co-written by James Ellroy. Tough, but tender, dumb cop is manipulated by senior officers in the LAPD for their own ends. Everyone is cynical, everyone is corrupt, everyone is violent, to the point where you begin to wonder how the LAPD can even function anymore. And yet this modern look at crime and punishment is so old fashioned. We've seen it all before in films like The French Connection only more interestingly done. At the end I half expected someone to tell Keanu Reeves "It's Chinatown, Jake.". Violent, action-packed, reasonably acted, competently directed and strangely boring. Reeves compares badly to Denzil Washington's similar turn in ... Read More:

Where do these producers get the money to make these awful cheesy movies and why is Tyrese trying to ruin his career.
I'm not trying to say that Tyrese is Oscar material but he put in a decent performance in 'Baby Boy' and in 'Transformers' which he was very funny in.

I am baffled how Meagan Good gets work because she is so type cast it is ridiculous, she always plays the skinny temptress with the big mouth. Watch some of her movies and see what i mean, she played the same character in 'Biker boys', Stomp the Yard' and 'You got served', she even played the temptress in a few episodes of the fantastic comedy 'My wife and kids' before she was replaced by Donna Summers daughter. She pouts far too much, there's no denying she's attractive ... Read More:

if like me you are purchasing this to watch on a sensical basis starting from the beginning of the groups formation upto the famous murders , then you are gonna be dissapointed
it starts out like a Acids haze interwoven with flashbacks here and there all over the place then continues like a semi biagraphic from actors playing the characters ( it would have been better if thats the direction you wanted to go in to have interviews with the real people and release this as a docudrama, and whats all the pieces about with the Semi punk gang (i get that they are influenced in some way but thats not what the titles about (Manson family ) not aftermath 20 years later sorry rubbish
could have been better like the Zodiac or the ed geins film

The first thing you have to understand that this is not just a B-movie based on a bunch of murders and making a true story an excuse to make alot of bloody death scenes put into a film.
This is actually a fairy realistic film of the true events of the Manson family murders and dont get me wrong, this film has some terribly violent scenes, yet the vast length of this film is mainly about the events that lead to the murders and what caused the poeple to do what they did. That-plus-there is a little twist at the end which sees the manson family uprising again.
The acting isnt all magnificent and you can tell this is a budget film, but due to its extreme realism and surprisingly good picture (thanks to the surprisingly good DVD), this film doesnt look ... Read More:
