Get Carter? VILLAIN is a better movie. Starring Richard Burton (a good actor unlike M.Cain), it is a well directed 1971 movie that is a classic example of the English gangster genre which stretches from Brighton Rock, through Get Garter and the Long Good Friday, to Lock, Stock etc. Writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais have fashioned a kind of East-End version of White Heat with Burton in the mother-fixated Jimmy Cagney role.
Burton gives us his Ronnie Kray impersonation and clearly relishes the sly dialogue of the script. The support includes notable turns from Nigel Davenport, Donald Sinden, and a hilarious Joss Ackland as a would-be gangster, with an upset tummy - ulcer.
The dvd boxset is great and for the price is worth it! The first film is excellent and is played out well by the actors and actresses! It is a fun film with the Classic best british car to date, the Mini! Shame that the sequal to it was never produced, but the re make of the film I thought was just average and the story line could've been made better. I thought the car scenes could've been longer and the ending a little better, but still, it was decent enough to watch!

Warning - plot spoilers ahead.
The first 20 minutes of When a Stranger Calls are excellent. Really quite tense and frightening. I was quite surprised at this, due to its age. It's very similar to Black Christmas which kind of detracts from it a little bit, but it's done so well it shouldn't put you off too much.
Equally, the final 15 minutes or so, when the killer returns to stalk the girl from the beginning of the film is also tense and exciting.
It's the middle bit that stands out for me, as a bit of a let down. This is the bulk of the film but it is badly written and acted. After seeing what the killer did to the 2 kids in the beginning of the film, the detective leaves the force and vows to get revenge on the killer. This seems an ... Read More:

There really is no logical reason for packing "The Lost Continent" and "The Reptile" together was you get beyond the fact they are both Hammer films produced two years apart. After all, they are set in different centuries on different continents and to not have an actor or monster in common. "The Reptile" was filmed on the same lot as "The Plague of the Zombies," so that could have made sense as a pairing, but logic does not appear to be the rationale here. I mean, "The Reptile" was part of a double-bill with "Rasputin, the Mad Monk," which does not make a whole lot of sense either. However, this is really a moot point because I picked up this set because I wanted "The Lost Continent," a B-movie that made an impression on me when I was a kid and saw it in the theater. ... What is the review above going on about??
I think this was one of the best films of the series (after A Shot in the Dark and The Pink Panther Strikes Again) becuase its jokes are funny; the characters & acting is good AND that laugh out loud scene when the quadbike bounces of the edge of the dock. PLUS Cato has a bigger role instead of just fighting Cluoseau all the time.
I recomend this to Pink Panther fans (if you're not as the other review says you are) and think this should have been the last Pink Panther film so it ends on a high note.
