This is a sequel to the 2003 film Underworld, and in order to try and stop any confusion I would honestly suggest that you watch the original film before watching this one.

The film starts with a history lesson about the lives of Marcus (Tony Curran) and his twin brother William (Brian Steele) - the original vampire and werewolf. The sons of the immortal - one bitten by a bat, the other by a wolf. It shows the what happened to the two brothers and how Viktor (Bill Nighy) gained control over the vampire clan.

Selene's (Kate Beckinsale) voice over gives the situation now - "For six centuries I was a loyal soldier to the vampire clan. But I was betrayed. The war was not as it had seemed. In one night, the lies that had ... Read More:

This is a great special effect film,, HD shows of the transformation of human to vampire to werewolf and etc.
The fight scenes are very good, explosions, helicopter crashes, mortal visceral Kombat with vampire/ werewolves /guns etc.
My favourite bit is Bill Nighy in the 12th century as a Lord of the Realm vampire, the war of vampires and werewolves looks absolutely stunning. Action sequences are very slick( and there is alot of action), superb choreography. Bill Nighy, Derek Jacobi, the Marcus guy, and all the surrounding actors are great.
The only , and Only reason it does not get 5 stars, and not a classic is that Kate Beckinsdale ( the hot lead) and Scott Speedman are unconvincing lead actress and actor. Oh and its always night.

A fantastic film that had myself and a group of friends guessing throughout and lots of food for thought afterwards. The quality of the acting was superb as was the pace. We had watched Sherrybaby the week before that attempted at raw emotion, this supersedes anything I've seen for a long time and makes the attempts coming out of Hollywood look rather limp and pathetic.

Luke Goss gives rather a good performance in this confusing film. Half the time I could not work out what was going on. It is a rather bits and pieces biopsy on Charlie Richardson, London gangster from the sixties. I had the distinct impression that we are supposed to view him as a sorely wronged man, a Robin Hood type character, who was in effect not a ruthless thug who considered himself "superior" to the Krays, but that he was capable of great charitable works. His boast was that he got away with everything and he had the police in his pocket. When finally arrested, his defence resorted to trying nobble the judge. He was sentenced to 25 years and when released moved to Africa. At the end of the film we are told that nowadays his case would have been thrown out of court ... Read More:

This film isnt offensive nor is it the best thing to come out since sliced bread. The story is well written and the cast list is impressive, the graphics arent out of this world but for this picture they are well suited.

ITs a pleasent way to spend a few extra hours, you dont need to concentrate hard, spot the hidden meaning its just a good plain honest fantasy action movie with some of the worlds most infamous characters all in one place.

Great Expectations [1999]

This edition is technically not great. The DVD mastering is quite awful and is very grainy indeed. However....

This is so good. Having admired David Lean's rather compressed version of Dickens' superb novel for many years and having endured the complete annihilation of the said novel in the abhorrent farrago starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke, it is an absolute joy to witness the sheer quality of realisation in this production. It vastly outclasses the other productions on every level although the Lean has great nostalgic charm and appeal. Relatively faithful to the novel, this is profoundly engaging. The acting is superb.Charlotte Rampling inhabits the character of Miss Havisham at a stellar level, evoking a sympathetic response to the personal tragedy that is her reality. ... Read More:

The Good German [2006] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Jack Thompson, John Roeder, Tobey Maguire
directed by: Steven Soderbergh
May 22, 2007

I enjoyed the movie;I have lived in Berlin for 20 years and in my view Soderbergh was able to capture the traumatic post war atmosfere of this town,of course in a different way than the realistic despair shown by the remarkable "Germania anno zero" of Roberto Rossellini. As italian historian I was interested in how the complexity of crime, guilt, atonement," Realpolitik" was handled; I think Soderbergh did a fine job. It is commendable that a director like him tries to challenge himself on different fields and to make use of evident quotations of other movies without deserving to be described as selfindulgent.Further,it is really not necessary to compare always the movie with the novel it is based upon.
