With the two modern entries in the Hulk franchise viewers will largely fall into 3 categories - 1) people who prefer this Ed Norton vehicle to Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk because the latter was "too arty" whereas this is more of an action movie; 2) people who prefer the Ed Norton/Louis Leterrier project because it is closer in style to the 1970s Lou Ferrigno TV series; 3) people who prefer the Ang Lee experiment because it drew its influence more from the paper source material and generally felt like a more-rounded movie.
I fall firmly into the third category, although I came into The Incredible Hulk (2008) without any predefined opinions, simply hoping that it would live up to the first film. I was aware that Marvel had decided to distance ... Read More:

The good bits in this movie are all in the visual part. The camera work is stunning and the wildness of Alaska hits you hard.
But I couldn't imagine that anyone was as perverse or plain dumb as this character. Surely on your first day in a snowbound winter landscape, you don't willingly jump into a river? This and other acts of stupidity left this viewer totally out of sympathy with the character.
Then there is the way he patronised everyone who helped him. These people were kind to a smartass boy who repaid their kindness by leaving them to sort out their own mess, which he had usually made worse. He would listen to other people's problems and then say "good luck, I'm off to have an adventure". I couldn't wait for a bear to eat him.

When I sat down to watch this movie, I had no real expectations as the last Hulk movie was very poor, however with the recent spate of excellent Marvel films I was keeping my fingers crossed. Firstly I must say this was a huge improvement from the movie a few years back. The CGI was a lot less obvious and the movie had a much fuller story. Nice cameo from Lou Ferrigno as the security guard and of course Stan Lee. Looked good on Blu Ray, however not as much for me as Iron Man. Major downside for me was Liv Tyler, just didn't find her at all convincing.... to girly, breathless and pouting for a top scientist. I have to admit that I have not had the same issues on the Blu ray as some of the others here. Summary is good movie, just not quite up there with Iron ... Read More:

One of the stars of Vantage Point-Dennis Quaid - has described the film as a "Kind of Rashomon [1950] [Special Edition]" alluding to the films method of showing the same 23 minute loop of time from several different perspectives. Whoah there Dennis , don't get carried away . Structurally , though he kind of has a point though in terms of quality these two films while not chalk and cheese are definitely wildly varying qualities of cheddar.
Vantage Point takes place at an anti -terrorism summit in Salamanca ,Spain( though most of the film was actually shot in Mexico) where the American President Ashton ( William Hurt) is making a speech. He is shot , a bomb goes off , general chaos ensues as you would expect. We, the audience, then to see events from the ... Read More:

Got this DVD frre with a Samsung BDP1500 bluray player so I didn't think it would be very good. How wrong, could I be. Kept me and my family enthralled with its twisting and turning plot. Great action sequences that will keep you on the end of your seat. Absolutely stunning in bluray.

The use of puppets and animation somehow enable a more real character of Jesus to be portrayed without the baggage of actors and sets. It is how I see he would really have related to people.
Some `Director's Cut' releases add little to (or even spoil) the original versions but this release is well worth obtaining as it has, in my opinion, improved the feature. Gone is the opening, studio imposed voice over for dummies (its not missed, believe me) and the audience is instead left to figure out what's going for itself. What unfolds is a highly original and beautifully crafted sci-fi tale with a good performance from Rufus Sewell in the lead as the troubled suspected murderer, ably supported by William Hurt (the downbeat cop), Kiefer Sutherland (the nutty scientist), Jennifer Connelly (the doe-eyed nightclub singer) and also by Ian Richardson and Richard O'Brien (won't give anything away here, but both great as two of the `others' shall we say), amongst an ensemble cast ... Cannot believe the write up Amazon has given for this DVD box-set, this edition has nothing to do with the David Lynch theatrical version(that has the Princess providing the narration)or the Alan Smithee TV version (which has an undisclosed man narrating and the famous spitting scene) of the James Herbert classic SF novel both starring Kyle MacLachlan and Sting. It is in fact the SCIFI Channel production and a great job they do of it as well.
A much tidier production than the Lynch/Smithee films, the story and the portrayal of the characters is both enthralling and sympathetic to the spirit of the Herbert novels. Not one to sit and watch a three hour film myself I was enjoying watching Dune (2000) so much so that I let my beer get warm and my cigarettes went unsmoked. ... Read More:

This is a really good movie. Costner is understated and suits the role perfectly. Most of the time it's well paced with only a couple of flat bits. William Hurt and Dane Cook are also excellent, particularly the odd relationship between Costner and Hurt that really works without resorting to the 'devil on the shoulder' cliche. Demi Moore is OK but her character never really develops.
Overall, a really good film that kept us hooked all the way through.
