This film is a must have in my DVD collection i love it! The story, the laughs and the sound track create one of my all-time favourite films and thats hard for a man to say when its actually in esscence a love story! Heath ledger is epically cast as a thatchers son destined to servitude and squaller however the his desire and will drive him to chase his dream! The supporting cast provide great laughs and comardership that is not rarely seen in movies. This film is a great example of the drive that comes from a persons imagination, enough to challenge his class pursue his destiny enjoy life and as with all good stories find love! >>More Details

...but comedy and revenge don't go together. Remakes rarely live up to the original and PAYBACK (the original being POINT BLANK with Lee Marvin) is no exception, and it's not for the lack of trying. The acting is good, the story is good, but it's the directing and the sometimes slapstick humor that bring PAYBACK down. I don't know why i bought this. Maybe because I was having an emotional Heath Ledger tribute which involved purchasing a load of his films. I'm sorry to say this was a really dire film. The "knight" (Heath Ledger) earns the love, respect, and loyalty of his peers and others with his bravery, sense of honor, and strength of character. I rented this and have to say that I was disappointed by the visual quality of the film on Blu Ray. I do not actually think it was any better than the DVD (which I own) except marginally. For perhaps a couple of scenes the picture quality was good and clearly HD. I have to disagree with the other reviewer who says that the picture quality is outstanding, it is not at all. Plenty of grain and not a sharp picture. As for the sound, either 5.1 or PCM uncompressed. As my amplifier does not have an HDMI slot I cannot use PCM uncompressed sound and so cannot comment on that. the 5.1 sound was ok but again no better than the DVD.
