When it aired in my country in the summer of 2002 and i loved it. it was one of the best mini series i have ever watched. i don't know if it was the subject, gay romance in 19 century England, but this is to this day still in my top 5 of most see mini series.
the plot, the script, the character and the acting are amazing. you can tell it is BBC made due to it's quality.
i highly recommend it and If you don't want to buy try and rent it from somewhere I promise it be worth it.

DVD : Stormbreaker [2006]

Stormbreaker [2006]

starring: Mickey Rourke, Bill Nighy, Sophie Okonedo, Ewan McGregor, Alicia Silverstone
directed by: Geoffrey Sax
November 13, 2006

Alex Rider (Pettyfer) is assigned by MI6 to work undercover as a computer nerd to find out the dealings of Darrius Sayle, a man generously giving free computers to every school in England.

Based on Anthony Horowitz's award winning novel, Geoffrey Sax's adaptation is a true testament to the book, filled with that exciting Bond styled action along with a great variety of characters; this is an entertaining adaptation and a worthy watch.

Pettyfer (Tom Brown's schooldays) gives a great account of himself as the 14 year old school boy. Pettyfer gives Alex that suaveness and cheekiness that Horowitz intended and though there are a few clichéd moments for the character, Pettyfer still pulls it off.

Doctor Who - The Movie [1996] [1963] This is perhaps one of the most underated DVD's in the whole Doctor Who series both new and classic. The main problem is the bad guy or more specifically the actor who portrays him, Eric Roberts is a great bad guy in lots of B'Movies but just wasn't right for this film (his choice was forced on the writers/director due to pressure from the american backers). On the whole though the film is a great little jaunt, the interior of the TARDIS is fantastic and McGann plays the role fantastically. idea for the future (McCoy, McGann, Eccleston and Tennant) The Four Doctors

This film is jumpy and has a good storey line. A good performance by keaton as well. The only thing that may let it down is the end but then some times you have to watch films tounge in cheek.

Great acting. The film is 3 hours long but it really will not feel like it. It is brilliant. You really feel for the characters. This is full of suspense and twist. The film follows all the characters and pieces things together perfectly. It makes you look at internet games in a different way. The question is will they actually make this game ? I hope so in a way (just for fun obviously). It is a film that i found myself asking... If only !!! you will see what i mean when you watch it. This will not dissapoint.

DVD : Othello [2001] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

Othello [2001] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Keeley Hawes, Eamonn Walker, Christopher Eccleston, Christopher Fox, Allan Cutts
directed by: Geoffrey Sax
March 12, 2002

Don't be put off by the fact that Geoffrey Sax's Othello is a modern "updating" of Shakespeare's play - none of the impact of the Bard's tragedy is lost in what is an utterly fabulous adaptation. While the language certainly loses Shakespeare's poetry, in some respects the context in which this version is presented is more potent, immediate and compelling.

Made for British television, Eammon Walker played the first black head of the Metropolitan Police Force at a time when the "institutional racism" of London's police was offset by positive discrimination in the recruitment of officers from racial minorities. John Othello takes command to deal with rising racial tension on London's streets, while Jago, his secretly embittered second-in-command, believes ... Read More:

directed by: Geoffrey Sax

A brilliant film with a great young actor. Its different from Anthony Horowitz book Strombreaker but so are all films.
If this had a bigger budget this would have been awesome.
Alex was a great actor and perfect for the part, some of the Co stars where very poor, it let it down. I am suprised it was not a big box office hit as it is still a great film and comes close to James Bond. Probably level with Cody Banks due to a better storyline but did not have th budget the Americans had with Cody Banks.

Highly disappointed by this film.

A friend recommended this film to me, so I bought it. Unfortunately I found it totall tragic at best, I cannot believe that someone somewhere reckoned that this film script would be a good idea!!!

It begins fine, good story, but then it degenerates into what can only be described as utter tat. To be brutally honest, if the film had followed another path way it would have worked out brilliantly. I am totally gutted that I wasted nearly 2hours of life on this.

I gave it 2 stars because the acting was reasonably good and the initial idea was good.

I bought this DVD because I am a big fan of T. Dalton. I watched it all in one night, even though it is over 3 hours long. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the psychological twists and games, and the action, the drama, the final surprise.
If you want to see an intellingent movie, this is it!

I'm not going to add anything to earlier reviews (why bother when I would simply be in agreement) however...

Solely on the basis that the DVD is a US import in the NTSC format Amazon have made the assumption that this is Region 1 coded. NOT SO! I have two DVD players which will not - under any circumstances - play anything other than Region 2 or 0 discs and this set plays on those machines without any problem whatsoever. There is NO indication on either the packaging or the discs of any region coding so the assumption has to be that this set is region-free and capable of being played on any machine with the proviso that both the DVD and the TV can handle NTSC signals.

I have attempted to get Amazon to change the region coding for this set but ... Read More:
