I am a fan of most of the Pixar films but have to say that I found this one to be slightly disappointing. It is brilliantly animated,Paris looks glorious and it is well voiced. For some reason though,'Ratatouille' just didn't hold my attention and it isn't a film that I would watch again.
The highlight comes from the voice of Peter O' Toole as Anton Ego.He clearly has a ball as the arrogant food critic and all of the scenes he features in are a delight. On the whole I did feel that this isn't in the same league as 'Toy Story 1 & 2' or 'A Bug's Life'.A fair effort but not Pixar's best.

theres no denying that ratatouille looks amazing, especially on blu ray, but i had a great deal of trouble enjoying the film. Nothing exciting actually happens. There were no jokes whatsoever (strange for a kids film) and i didn't really like any of the characters. The main character (the rat) only good aspect was that he was very cute when he didn't talk and that wasn't often and the boy chef just wasn't in any way likeable.
Going by other reviews i am obviously in the minority but i just didn't get it. So only 1 star from me

This is a charming collection of Pixar short films plus extras like a brief history of Pixar shorts, segments from Sesame Street and audio commentary. The films range from the very basic like Andre & Wally B from the early days, to the sophisticated like One Man Band, a filmette about 2 street musicians competing for a coin from a little girl in a European town square.

My favorites include Tin Toy in which a destructive baby goes on the rampage while the terrified toys cower under a couch and a drummer-boy toy tries to appease the little urchin, the uplifting Boundin' - the story of a sheep that suffered from depression after shearing until a jackalope comes by and brings out spectacular new talents in the sweet animal. This one ... Read More:

Some people consider "Bug's Life" as not being on the same level of quality as other Pixar productions, but I really can not agree with them. My daughter clearly wouldn't agree either. This is a very funny movie, with a lot of interesting innovations (we will never look at bugs in the same way, me and my family) and a kind of surprising kindness - even the bad guys are shown with some understanding (having chosen the life of parasite racketeers, they are now trapped by it - as much as their ant victims). The principal hero is possibly one of the most likeable characters I ever saw. A little warning - there is one scene at the end, of the final demise of the leader of grasshoppers, that can impress the littlest children (under 6) - otherwise this movie ... Read More:
