I wasn't lucky enough to catch this series on TV all those years ago and don't ever remember it being repeated. Found it by chance on Amazon and the great reviews made me buy it. It sat on my bookshelf for a couple of weeks until Sunday evening when I watched the first episode.
It got me hooked almost immediately and like the last reviewer I got through the entire 23 episodes in three days. It was totally addictive, like reading a great book you just can't put down - just one more chapter, until before you know it it's 3am and there's work tomorrow.
The show is more than 10 years old now but doesn't seem at all dated.
The photography is amazing, the cast impressive and there are stand-out performances from Daniel ... Read More:

Very watchable especially for Ally McBeal fans of the series. Better than the soap operas we now have on TV - the characters are fresher, cleaner and more inspiring than the gloomy cast of down and outs in English 'soaps'. A few later episodes in this series become boring with added excessive shouting/arguing which spoils the style of 'Ally McBeal'. This multiple CD set prepares one for the next season of quirky characters who compliment each other well in the serious setting of a law firm, with occasional (surreal) flights of fancy.

I have totally missed this on TV. OK, having developed a substantial allergy for ads, I miss almost everything on TV, except football. But the reviews at Amazon were enthusiastic enough, and the name of Steven Bochco seemed quite trustworty, ditto the cast. As you can buy Seasons 1 AND 2 for the same price as Season 1 OR Season 2 (separately), I had little doubts in my choice.
The result? After the boxset arrived, I've witnessed several sunrises. The verdict for Mr. Bochco and Co: guilty!!!!!
My advice for anyone: grab it now! It's really amazing. OK, maybe it's my personal opinion, and tastes is not a subject for discussion, but if you are not interested in stuff like this in general, you are not reading this review, are you?

directed by: Andy Tennant, Joe Napolitano, Joseph L. Scanlan, Kevin Bright, Larry Shaw

For those looking for a different kind of television show then look no further! The Adventures Of Brisco County Jr is one of the most original series ever committed to film - a well combined mix of classic western, action, adventure, science fiction, fantasy and humour all rolled into one!
The show centres around Brisco County Jr who is employed by a group of Robber Barons to round up the infamous John Bly and his gang after they kill his father and steal an ancient artifact called The Orb.
As the show progresses the true nature of John Bly is slowly revealed and the reason for his interest in the Orb is one of the show's great cliffhangers.
In each episode we also get a glimpse of what Briso describes as 'the coming thing' ... Read More:

I enjoyed this season - most episodes were lively and likeable. Jarod as the avenger of the little guy has a certain charm. Towards the end of the season more mythos came into play, presumably because the creators got the nod for a second season. Andrea Parker is good throughout and unrecognisable from her performance in the much underrated Less than Perfect. Best episode is Keys where Jarod and Parker are trapped by a hurricane.

S2 is a curate's egg. There are some really good episodes but also some duds. The first weak episode is Exposed, with an entirely predictable plot. Later we get three duds in a row - FX, Indy Show and Gigolo (where Weiss is clearly uncomfortable with the script).

A key problem with the season is that the build up of the mythos means each episode has the Jarod story sharing time with Parker, Sydney and Broots pursuing the mysteries of the Centre. The latter is what we are really interested in and so Jarod the avenger of the little guy loses out. Moreover, with less time to tell the Jarod story, its plots become simpler and the denoument more obvious. Also, a little boring. The best episodes of the season are those which feature the main characters ... Read More:
