I recently watched this film and I was really impressed by it! I've seen so many bad reviews about this film and I had doubts about buying it but I did and I'm so glad now! People have been complaining about the ending on this film. I think it's great, although nothing much happens. There's so many films that end with a massive exploding finale but this one was pretty calm. I've seen this movie several times now and I'm still fascinated by it - I'm no particular fan of George Clooney or the Coen brothers or Bluegrass music (or even of Homer), but this movie is so cleverly constructed and well acted, with multiple threads that hang and re-cross throughout the story, that each time I watch I see a connection I missed in previous viewings. Reading the other reviews I guess I must be the only ageing Blues fan out here - but Robert Johnson must be up there (sorry, down there) somewhere, smiling if he's seen it. >>More Details

This is an eclectic collection of love tales set in Paris , some slightly dull and some just brilliant . The whole movie is worth watching just because of the Coen brothers film with Steve Buscemi and the romance between a boy and a vampire. 'The Big Lebowski' has been dubbed a 'cult' movie and with reason. It is a movie for a very specific clientele and one that is likely to disappoint a more mainstream audience. First of all, it is not THAT funny. It definitely has its good moments thank to the script and the more than able cast. But don't be fooled: those moments are the exception and not the norm. The movie seems to be too pleased with itself and it certainly falls short of the comic brilliance of 'Fargo'. The storyline is never plausible and after a while one fails to be even mildly interested with all the twists and turns of its kinky plot. This is not a great movie. I watched Blood Simple for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching Francis McDermott. She was fantastic in Fargo. Fargo was a great movie with all the right moves, excellent tone, bizarre characters, and a flatly affected but very strong pregnant cop played by McDermott. The Coen brothers are known for their slightly off-kilter films. Raising Arizona with Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter was a very successful and entertaining quirky movie. Strange characters and bizarre situations can be very entertaining. The formula just doesn't work in Miller's Crossing. Gabriel Byrne stars as a dirtball gangster. It doesn't take a genius to see why this film has become a cult classic given it's satrical Raymond Chandler stylised story and offbeat humour. Of course, many viewers won't like it, but those that do see it as a classic. Goodman excels as a sad, deluded but lovable ex-Vietnam veteran. Bridge's brilliantly juxtaposed neurotic cool dude performance apparently even surpassed the Coen brothers best expectations. Turturro makes a brief, but memorable appearance. I am hesitant to recommend this film, because you have to see it and decide for yourself. It's either somewhat disappointing (the critics opinion), or it just hits the spot. >>More Details

This was a firm favourite of mine as a teenager, due mainly to the plethora of brilliantly quotable lines (teenagers,eh?) But it is still just as original, funny, strange and clever as it ever was, with a great cast of actors, the role of a lifetime for Nicolas Cage, which i'm sure helped him break out and be considered a very versatile actor, and of course the ever fantastic Holly Hunter, plus some wonderful supporting players. The Cohen brothers may of gone on and honed their craft as film makers,but they have never beaten Raising Arizona for laughs. >>More Details
