Really for fans only, and undiscriminating fans at that. Some fascinating archive footage which really takes you back to the grey, grim days of England in the 70s, some good concert footage (though not a lot that you can't get elsewhere), but for me the relentless mythologising, by the various (largely un-named and uncredited) interviewees, and by Joe himself gets a bit wearying. The Clash made some tremendous music, but Joe himself, while his constant seeking after some kind of truth and justice is laudable, wasn't the clearest or most consistent of political thinkers and shouldn't be celebrated as such. I also lost patience with the Julian Temple style; the free-association of loosely-related images with the Strummer story quickly came to ... Read More:

Wasn't going to write a review, but then you get jumped up little wannabe Guardianists like Thomas "Nobmachine" spewing out their fetid bed wetting nonsense. Make no mistake, this is first and foremost a great rock'n'roll dvd, full on balls to the wall classic rock, played how it should be! No prog rock here! Just a huge wall of sound that is unmatched by any other act for sheer power. Every track bristles with righteous fury and takes you right back to 1977, a far more interesting musical time than we have at the moment. The audience defintely loved it big time, always a good sign.

As the King of all music festivals takes a break in 2006, Temple's documentary is the closest thing you can get to the Glastonbury experience this year. It charts the history of the event, but is formed in a way that recreates the feeling of three days of fun rather than simply following chronology.
Two hours and twenty minutes might seem a long time for a documentary, but as you're kept smiling most of the way through, it's not in the least overbearing. We are treated to a number of musical highlights, but just as entertaining is meeting some of the weird and wonderful people that make the festival so unique. Particularly memorable are the three-man family team who run the tanker that sucks the, aherm, human waste out of the portaloos - such are the moronic ... Read More:

I seen this film back in 99 ,i remember thinking this is going to be a cheap silly gangster movie....but i was wrong. This film isnt like 'menace to society' if thats what you expect. This movie is big on character and their lives. Mickey plays 'butch stein' superbly and ted levine as the confused brother who thinks hes in the war gives an amazing performance also.
Its hard to believe it hasnt been heard of by many until now but ive noticed its begining to get a kind of cult following, overall this movie has a great score, directing is good, actors paly excellent roles.Should have had more credit when it came out ,but what do expect when a movie goes straight to the shelves. 10/10 for me

For all fans of the Pistols, & punk generally, this is a great peace of fiction based on the Pistols story told by a man with an ego he would like to believe is the biggest!
Malcolm McLaren pretends to be the main man (as he is prone to), but that doesnt spoil some good parts of this film, including some good tracks & performances.
For a true & better film see Filth & The Fury, a film done by The Pistols with, I believe, Julian Temple again, however this film is worth watching- Just dont believe the tripe!!
(BTW Temple apologised for his part in producing Rock n Roll Swindle)

I like bands with a good sense of humor, bands that don't take themselves too seriously. Blur is one of them, most of the time. Some of the earlier ones are kind of silly, but the later videos are pretty good. I especially like Parklife, Charmless Man, Beetlebum, On Your Own, M.O.R. and Tender. If you like Blur, you'll like this.

A great insight into the weird and wonderful world of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This DVD shows Tom Petty's great talent for story telling and transforming their music and lyrics into almost movie like music videos. Great examples of this, are the likes of Into the great wide open, Mary Janes last dance, Free falling and Yer so bad, to name but a few. It also has the Heartbreakers just purely jammin' it infront of the cameras, showing their extraordinary talent as musicians and performers. A must have for any Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fan! A truly brilliant compilation of their finest music videos.
