I loved this film. Kevin Kline is excellent as the french gadabout and what a brillant job on the accent. There is so much to like about this film. Light romantic comedies are not normally my thing but this is well worth a watch. Its a shame Kline hasn't risen higher up the Hollwood pecking order.Remember how good he was in a Fish Called Wanda. Any man wanting to get in the wifes good books would do well to get this as a gift. Totally brilliant and really funny. The french locations only add to the charm of the film.

Extraordinary film, well worth even twice the money. A cinematography delight in every respect. Doc Holliday steals the film with his wonderful quirky humour and his enigmatic screen prescence, nearly out-shining Mr Earp himself.

The western was always going to be one of genres most likely to impress on HD and boy does this blu-ray transfer hit the spot. Lawrence Kasdan's 1994 three hour epic, sprawling story of Wyatt Earps life from boyhood, through tragedy and vengeance to peaceful 'retirement' was spread over two sides of the Warner DVD release with an average print. The single-sided, continuous letterbox transfer on this blu-ray version is vibrant and needle sharp with an equally impressive HD audio that will have you jumping at every bullet shot and ricochet. The fine orchestral soundtrack by James Newton Howard is also beautifully rendered. There is one particular scene in the latter part of the movie set in a pale rocky canyon that makes you feel you can almost reach out ... Read More:

This is a very subtle film. It has a broad canvass of characters who once were at university together, but each one engages you as a different career path, or a different example of how things can work out.
Death brings them all together, as I think it does to groups every so often in life. The reactions reveal the hollowness, wisdom or dissatisfactions of their own personal life choices or misfortunes. Some of the film is contrived, some of it becomes a bit far-fetched, but the warmth and intelligence of the movie is not in doubt.

When I first saw this film I really liked it, mainly because it wasn't a formula film and I couldn't begin to figure out what would happen next. I hadn't seen anything like this for years: it was like a 1930s domestic comedy - driven by character and dialogue, rather than by action. The film was based on a 1985 Pulitzer-nominated novel by Anne Tyler, (I liked the film so much I went out and read the novel and now Anne Tyler is one of my favourite novelists.)
The actors playing the central characters - William Hurt as Macon Leary, Kathleen Turner as his wife and Geena Davis all give really good performances. Davis's portrayal of whacky Muriel Pritchett won her an Oscar for best supporting actress, but Hurt and Turner, playing a couple traumatised by ... Read More:

This film is simply top notch. With deft direction by Lawrence Kasdan, a stellar cast, and a clever, well thought out script written by the director himself, this is a moody, atmospheric film, reminiscent of those potboilers of the nineteen forties. Highly stylized, the film tautly maintains its tension and suspense.
The plot is simple, yet ingenious. In steamy, hot and sultry coastal Florida, a beautiful blonde, unhappily married socialite, Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner), a veritable man trap with her smoky voice and Venus de Milo curves, meets a womanizing chump, Ned Racine (William Hurt), a small town, not too successful lawyer. He can't believe his luck when he hooks up with the wealthy Matty, as most of the women with whom he consorts work as ... Read More:

First of all, I dunno what fim the others were watching when they gave it 3 stars or more but this is total pish. Anyone who says the acting is solid is from another world.
I was surprised by Damian Lewis as I think he has the potential to be a really good, decent actor but I can only imagine he said yes to this film as its Stephen King. And what is it with that voice that he uses? Its just terrible. Why did Morgan Freeman accept this movie? Someone of his calibre should know that the movie would be poor.
From what I can gather the film is about 4 friends who go into the Maine woods and start to be hunted by some alien life form that comes out of peoples asses. Heres the catch, each friend has a special power which they obtained when they were kids after ... Read More:

Thoroughly enjoyed this film on the big screen and it's certainly worth seeing on your TV. The very first gripping opening scenes set the tone of the film and provide a backdrop against which the message of the film is set. In a series of stories about everyday life in modern-day Los Angeles, little miracles happen every day and one person's simple actions can have dramatic consequences. The director does a rare job of creating a compulsive, very moving film without resorting to over-sentimentality. Fantastic. An American fairytale.

This quite a unique movie. It's worth a watch regardless of what others might say.
I Love You To Death tells a [true] story about a cheating husband trying to be knocked off by his wife. Poisoning is the first choice. When the over dose of pills don't work, they ask a very love struck bus boy to pull the trigger. There last resort is to hire 2 very drugged up "hitman."
Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright are very good playing this slightly dysfunctional family. River Phoenix is also very convincing as a moonstruck, busboy. And there is William Hurt and Keanu Reeves. I do have to agree with the person whose comment said, "They make Dumb and Dumber look like yale graduates."
Brilliant Confession Scene that forms part of the film's trailer...
