As the credits rolled I was left feeling emotionally bruised and wondering how could I feel sympathy for such a monstrous character. This is a character study in the mould of Raging Bull, featuring an equally compelling central performance and inspired cinematography. Even with an above average running time, I never felt the film dragged and the end was immense. It will surely become am iconic scene. More than an epic tale of an early 20th Century oilman, this is a fascinating study of the greed for power and what it does to a man. This is an amazing film, with very high acting skill from Day Lewis. The acting skill of this is just under a Robert De Niro performance, I compare every actor to De Niro as he is the greatest actor of all time! Daniel gets a 5 out of 5 for his acting, but the story of this film is not great, that is why for me it hits a 3 out of 5. There were 2 films of 2008 that were the best and that's "There will be blood" & "No country for old men" so if you are looking to get one of these in Blu ray and can't decide, then I would recommend "No country for old men". I can't understand why this is such a highly rated film!! There is nothing good about it except mindless violence, drug taking and stupid sexual innuendos. Fair enough this film is based on the porn industry so I would be a bit confused if there was no sex in it whatsoever but it's just the way it's shot and acted that seems so tacky. This is Adam Sandler's most interesting film to date. It's a dark comedy with excellent acting from the entire cast. Its well written with subtle and dark humour, but judging by some of Adam Sandler's previous movies and by reading some of the reviews on Amazon; it appears that this film is too intelligent for the fans of Adam Sandler.
