Having been subjected to the whole 8 series keeping the little ones occupied I was curious to see how this would work with a new voice and clearly american take on the tales.
Well the addition of Pierce Brosnan's voice as the narrator is a great choice and the story and songs kept my 23 month old captivated and happy for several hours. The songs are a change and he jiggles around to them with glee. The extras keep him entertained as well.
In addition to all the positive things about this DVD I would just also like to mention two drawbacks: 1.) If you don't like the Walt Disney singing parades, this is a no for I'm afraid it contains quite a few 2.) The stories do NOT come to a natural and obvious end but rather one leads on to the other so you do have the debate as to whether the child may not watch a little more ...and just another little more ...

Having read the reviews for Kipper I bought this DVD for my 18 month old. He loves it so much it prompted me to add my own review. He is captivated by Kipper, the simple and entertaining stories and the characters. He asks for Kipper by name now and even does a dance to the opening music! He giggles out loud at the hamster in Pigs Present. Its lovely to have a DVD that I can put on for 10 minutes and know that Aaron will enjoy every minute. I would recommend this to everyone.

We rushed out to buy this for our four and two year old who both love Fireman Sam but wish we hadn't bothered. The great stop-motion animation has gone to be replaced with rubbishy, false movement computer animation. This really doesn't work with all the special effects (tin foil instead of water) gone and it really doesn't work as well. Our children got bored of it quite soon and only spent about half the time watching it than the old version. Even worse the characters voices have all gone. John Sparkes was an improvement on John Alderton for Fireman Sams voice but whoever is voicing the new Fireman Sam sounds like a twenty year old. He's lost all his gravitas and listen to me because I know what I'm talking about sound. Station Officer Steele now sounds ... Read More:

This has kept the same charming and beautifully presented stories faithfully. Jim Broadbent is perfect for Percy the Parkkeeper (despite the last thing i saw him in was Moulin Rouge - hilarious!). The stories are a little more involved than say Kipper or the Thomas stories, and are brilliant for children who are able to sit and listen to a story rather than just watch the pictures. And mommies and daddies will enjoy it too :)

This DVD was good value for the price I paid.My son adores all things musical & singalong so I thought this would be great,he really enjoys the songs he knows. However, there are quite a few songs which are not so popular & so he rapidly looses interest. The good thing about this DVD is that you can pick which songs are played.I highly recommend this DVD for children aged 3 & above. My son is a little younger so may explain the lack of interest.Overall an entertaining DVD,but no replacement for Jim Jam & Sunny.
