I'm married but when we went to see Pink live in Nottingham me and my female friend both walked out and said she could "take" us down the other path if you get my drift (& not married herself).
She is an amazing show woman, she's sexy, daring, has an exquisite voice!!! Need I go on!! I've seen the Try This and I'm Not Dead tours live and she just keeps getting better!!! I've only just bought this and the Try This dvd (Jan 08) but I can't wait to watch them!!!! Enjoy!! >>More Details |

This is as described - a documentary account of the making of the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas. To expect a complete performance of the stage show would be asking too much. The show, like any other designed for the stage has to be seen..er...on the stage.
We've all heard criticism of the soundtrack album and about how the sacred work shouldn't be played around with - BUT don't forget, it's a soundtrack to a show, just as this film is a documentary about the way that the show came to life. One thing that comes over in the film, as in the show, is the care in portraying the main players (ie the Beatles) as having a great collective sense of humour. Before I ordered the movie, I was quite curious about it from reading reviews. But after watching it I got a little bit disappointed. In my opinion, it is not very well presented and only scratches the surface of spirituality (if this is the point of the movie). It is kind of ironic that in the movie they mention that we are constantly bombarded by images from the media but the film itself is a bombardment of images, interviews and sounds from all over the world, taken out of context and juxtaposed to each other.

I would give the DVD 5 star rating too. The program is awesome. Take That is in it's best form, and concert is wonderfully conceived.
I trained myself to perceive buying something I like on a Blu-ray, after I already have it on a DVD, as an upgrade and not double-dipping. As such, I expect it to actually BE an upgrade... Unfortunately... it was lit for the in-house audience and not for cameras (at least not for cameras used to shoot this concert). Insufficient light leads to grain and grain is abundant here, there is a lot of blocking and it is obvious that there is something gravely wrong with the colors and contrast. I have been an ABBA fan since my teens (70s)! The sound quality of this recording is exceptional and I really appreciated the second disc which has all the less popular songs (which happens to be my favourites) on it. I would really recommend this collection of 2 CDs and DVD to any ABBA fan! It is the best recording (sound quality) i have ever heard of all the ABBA LP's or CD's. GET IT NOW!!!!! PS - the ABBA documentary was a little dissapointing - would have liked to see more of the other members of the band being interviewed. Like several others I can't say that Orbison was even close to the top of my musical heroes but this package just has the best of everything - cool songs, great setting, tremendous musicianship and a splendid arty film in black and white which captures so much more than can ever be gained by listening to the CD alone.
It's amazing to see Bruce Springsteen in total awe of Orbison, to have backing singers including kd lang and to catch a fleeting glimpse of Sylvester Stallone in a spellbound audience. What is absolutely ridiculous though is that this total revelation can be bought for £4.98 from Amazon at the date of this review.
