This type of show does not come along often enough. Well written, superbly acted, fast paced, compelling and thought provoking. You are hooked after the first 5 minutes. It was late and my husband and I made the mistake of thinking we would only watch about 20 minutes of an episode. We were riveted to our chairs for the entire hour. I'm not even sure we blinked. To those having trouble hearing it, on the "Desktop" at the beginning, use your up, down, left or right remote keys and navigate over to the phone and hit Play. It will give you an option of stereo (2) or monaural (I think, the computer voice is hard to understand) (5). We found it easier to understand on (2) stereo. Then pick the episode you want to watch. Bottom line: This is a great ... Read More:

Series six does not reallly measure up to the high standards Spooks has set. First of all, visually it's much more conventional than the earlier series. But stories and characters were always Spooks' strongest assets. The stories are just not as gripping as they used to be and they seem to be running out of ideas. The first two episodes are about biological warfare, the third is about chemical warfare. The development of the storylines is sometimes not very convincing in terms of arriving at a solution. Too often there is the deus ex machina which is not satisfying. The characters are interesting as always, particularly nerw arrival Connie. Ros was never my favourite character but now she defintely develops in s very strange way. That in itself is ... Read More:

In the DVD set that I have, the disc with the face of Tom Quinn indicated as disc 1 is actually disc 2. Imagine my puzzlement when I was waiting to see how the cliffhanger from series 1 would be resolved. Of course, if you look at where the indicating arrow on the rack in the opening menu is pointing, you then know which episode you should be viewing. I am a fan of Spooks and have watched every series to date but like a number of other people, I find the DVD set up annoying. A brief guide to each episode or at least an episode title on the case sleeve would help. I have resorted to inserting written notes in the case !

You can try to compare Spooks to US series like 24 but for me Spooks is on a whole different level to 24. After a few short series 24 is starting to go stale with the same kind of plots being played out season after season. The explosions get bigger but the bottom line is still the same. Spooks on the other hand seems to go from strength to strength with every passing season. Yes there are only 10 episodes per season but that gives you some idea of the amount of thought that goes into every episode. I think the reason Spooks gets stronger with every episode is because it doesn't rely on the explosions and gun-battles that 24 does to make an impact. Spooks relies on it's storyline, some fantastic acting and so much realism that you actually finish an episode ... Read More:

I thought these episodes were better than most of series 1 and 2, generally more interesting. Exception: The rock star child kidnap episode was truly dreadful.
Rupert Penry-Jones as Adam Carter is ; in my opinion, better than Mat MacFadayen ever was.

I have always loved this show from season 1 and the quality of writing is the best among all the BBC TV shows. 24 should take a que from this series and make it's storylines more believable.Rupert-Penry Jones is just an added bonus to this show:-) I just wish each season had 24 episodes....BBC listen!

I was sad to see Rupert Penry-Jones bow out at the start of the series as I have been a fan of the show for some time, but this really has been a great season so far. Richard Armitage stepped in nicely as the new male lead, Lucas North. He has shown his fantastic range and talent through out series 7.
Harry Pearce has been the glue holding the team together again this season, I hope the show never has to do without him. Jemma Jones did a credible performance as Connie James and was chilling in her coldness in the last episode she was in.
There have been two deaths this season, one shocking and one not so much. The second death is not for the faint hearted and almost rivals the deep fat fryer in its brutality.

Excellent tv series .... astonishingly poor value boxed set of all series ...both the 1-5 box and the 1-6 box are terrible value compared to buying the individual series'. Daftest marketing ploy EVER
